About the role
The owns the full lifecycle of technical implementation for cloud-connected drone products and services. This role requires a deep sense of ownership to lead end-to-end usage, system maintenance, and on-site integration activities. You will support the future of dock-based vehicles operated remotely through an internet browser by managing complex hardware, network installations, and software integrations. A core responsibility is to act as an indispensable bridge between customers and Skydio's agile, world-class technical teams. The position demands expert-level troubleshooting for WiFi and cellular networking issues to ensure seamless operations. You will work closely with the Customer Success team to drive value and enable sales through technical validation. This role is critical for ensuring customers are set up for success with world-class autonomous solutions.

What you'll do
- Work closely with internal teams to become an expert on Skydio's Deployment products, processes, specifications, and product roadmap.
- Deploy and ensure cloud-connected devices, software, and hardware function correctly. Ensure they provide value within the customer's ecosystem after installation, configuration, testing, and modification as required.
- Communicate with customers to ensure all needs are understood and addressed.
- Collaborate with various internal departments to ensure they fulfill all customer requests.
- Resolve complaints and track all processes related to client needs.
- Act as the customer's representative. Ensure their demands are met with a focus on improving the customer experience.
- Track and manage all implementation projects for large enterprise customers. Ensure successful delivery of technology and services.
- Develop and maintain deployment and installation documentation. Document Standard Operating Procedures for customers. This ensures proper usage and value from the deployment. Quantify product feedback and brief executives to drive software and hardware engineering improvements.
- Build customer loyalty through proactive support and account management.
- Build scalable processes for installing cloud-connected devices on enterprise-grade secure networks.
- Install, configure, and test network infrastructure required for drone operations in diverse environments.
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to system performance, connectivity, and integration points.
- Partner with engineering teams to reproduce and debug issues found in production deployments.
- Conduct on-site assessments to determine network readiness and environmental factors for drone deployment.
- Provide clear and detailed technical guidance to field technicians and customer support staff.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of drone regulations and operational best practices.
- Ensure all deployments meet security standards and compliance requirements for enterprise clients.
- Utilize scripting and automation tools to streamline deployment workflows and reduce manual effort.
- Participate in post-implementation reviews to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Support the integration of new features and hardware updates into existing customer environments.
- Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery and installation of equipment.
- Validate system functionality through rigorous testing procedures before customer sign-off.
- Document lessons learned from deployments to inform future product development.
- Engage with customers to gather feedback and translate it into actionable engineering improvements.
- Ensure continuity of operations by providing robust support for ongoing system maintenance.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience supporting cloud-connected devices.
- Required experience with WiFi networking.
- Familiarity with cloud applications.
- Familiarity with Linux OS.
- Familiarity with mechanical or robotic systems.
- Ability to travel 75% of the time.
- Ability to acquire a Part 107 certificate.
- Must be based in the Northeast region of the United States.
- Must be capable of regular travel to client sites for installation and support.
- Must thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Must possess strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Must be able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have
- Experience in areas such as Mapping, Surveying, Photogrammetry in the Utilities or Public Safety industries.
- Basic software development knowledge (scripting).
- Knowledge of IP networking and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of REST APIs and experience working with customers to implement and test integrations.
- Cloud Certifications.
- Degrees in Computer Science, GIS, Engineering, Geography, etc.
Practical notes
Candidates must be located in the Northeast and prepared for regular travel to client sites. This role requires the ability to acquire a Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate to operate drones legally in US airspace. Travel expectations are significant, with a requirement to be on the road approximately 75% of the time for installation and support activities. The position is full-time and eligible for comprehensive compensation packages including base salary, equity, and benefits as outlined in company policy.
