Director, Strategy and Operations
Job description
About the role
You will project-manage the active portfolio of strategic initiatives that define the company's near-term execution and long-term valuation trajectory. You are the operating system that ensures complex, cross-functional work is visible, owned, and progressing on schedule. You will translate the vision of the CFO and CEO into coordinated workstreams that span Product, Legal, People, and Finance. This role demands comfort with high-stakes decisions, M&A activity, and the design of repeatable operational frameworks. You will be a close advisor at the leadership table while also owning the detailed tracking that keeps critical initiatives from slipping. Over time, this role will evolve to define the strategic agenda and own the follow-through that turns decisions into durable results.
Key facts
What you'll do
Project-manage active M&A transactions from diligence through close, coordinating due diligence inputs, integration planning, and post-close value capture with the CFO and business owners.
Serve as the central communication hub between deal teams and functional departments, translating requirements and constraints across Legal, People, Finance, and Product to prevent misalignment.
Maintain a centralized, real-time tracker of milestones, dependencies, and blockers, escalating risks early and driving timely resolution across the portfolio.
Own the annual and quarterly strategic planning processes, structuring analysis, facilitating leadership discussions, and converting decisions into a tracked operating plan with clear owners and deadlines.
Monitor progress against strategic initiatives, detect misalignment before it escalates, and run the conversations needed to refocus effort and resources on the highest-impact work.
Evaluate and prioritize new-market and expansion opportunities by building business cases, conducting scenario analysis, and presenting evidence-based recommendations to the CEO.
Drive cross-functional execution for the company's most critical programs, maintaining a single source of truth for priorities, owners, and milestone status.
Run leadership cadence sessions as decision forums, capturing decisions, clarifying accountability, and ensuring follow-through on commitments made by the leadership team.
Instill operational discipline by building reporting standards, KPIs, and review rhythms that improve visibility into performance and accelerate variance detection.
Leverage AI and advanced spreadsheet tools to increase analytical speed, reduce manual effort, and support sharper, data-driven decision-making at scale.
Partner with the CFO on financial modeling, unit-economics analysis, and value-creation roadmaps to clarify trade-offs and resource allocation.
Own the documentation and readiness work required for an exit or fundraising event, ensuring the company is operationally prepared and story-ready.
Champion a culture of accountability by holding leaders - including the CFO and CEO - responsible for commitments and timelines without direct authority over their functions.
Act as a proactive, solutions-oriented partner who reduces executive burden by resolving ambiguity and keeping the leadership team focused on execution.
Requirements
You have deep experience in a structured-thinking environment such as management consulting, investment banking, corporate development, or corporate strategy and have moved into an operating role where you build and run plans.
You are fluent with financial models and SaaS metrics, including unit economics, cohort analysis, and the levers that drive enterprise value in a software business.
You have managed complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives where ambiguity was high and clarity had to be manufactured through structure and communication.
You hold strong commercial instincts alongside analytical rigor, balancing data with judgment to recommend pragmatic and timely actions.
You have outstanding written and verbal communication skills, producing executive-grade materials and presenting to senior leaders with clarity and confidence.
You are comfortable making decisions and driving outcomes in fast-paced, ambiguous environments without sacrificing quality or transparency.
You bring M&A or integration experience, including diligence, integration planning, or post-merger integration support in a SaaS or technology context.
You have a track record of building and maintaining operational discipline, including reporting cadence, KPI reliability, and early variance detection.
You are highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritize competing demands, and maintain a visible, up-to-date single source of truth for priorities.
Nice to have
Experience in portfolio or platform strategy where you have evaluated and prioritized multiple strategic initiatives.
Background in PE-owned or venture-growth environments where operating cadence and exit readiness are critical.
Hands-on experience with AI-enabled productivity tools and a demonstrated ability to leverage them for analysis and execution.
Practical notes
This is a full-time remote role.
The position reports to the CFO with a dotted line to the CEO.
No specific working hours are mandated, but the role requires availability for leadership cadence and critical decision windows.
Travel is not required, though occasional virtual attendance at strategic meetings may be needed.
No visa sponsorship details are provided at this time.
