You will partner with mechanical and civil disciplines to integrate electrical solutions into holistic facility designs. You will exercise judgment in code interpretation to develop layouts that meet both regulatory standards and client objectives. You will lead documentation efforts to produce clear deliverables that support construction and procurement activities. You will mentor junior staff by providing technical guidance and constructive review of their engineering work. You will communicate design intent effectively with clients to align technical solutions with project goals. What you'll do
Perform detailed load calculations and select appropriate equipment to size feeders, switchgear, and protective devices.
Develop single-line diagrams that illustrate electrical system topology and clearly represent power flow for various industrial applications.
Conduct coordination studies to verify selective coordination and ensure overcurrent device operation follows intended sequences.
Analyze motor starting characteristics and voltage drop to confirm that equipment operates reliably within specified limits.
Specify lighting layouts and power distribution strategies that improve workplace safety, efficiency, and maintainability.
Prepare construction documents including layouts, schedules, and wiring diagrams that field crews can follow without ambiguity.
Apply engineering software tools to model electrical systems, evaluate scenarios, and validate design assumptions efficiently.
Support project reviews by preparing technical summaries that highlight risks, assumptions, and recommended corrective actions.
Interpret client specifications and operational requirements to define electrical solutions that meet intended performance outcomes.
Collaborate with other disciplines to resolve interface issues and confirm that electrical installations integrate smoothly with overall project scope.
Verify that designs comply with the National Electrical Code and relevant industry standards while addressing practical installation constraints.
Support field commissioning activities by reviewing test plans and confirming that installed systems perform as designed.
Document design decisions and calculation trails to ensure clarity, repeatability, and ease of knowledge transfer within the team.
Assist in estimating efforts by providing material takeoffs and conceptual cost impacts for electrical distribution strategies.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical field.
You must possess a current Professional Engineer license or be eligible to obtain one in the state of Ohio.
You should have a strong understanding of power distribution systems, including feeders, switchgear, transformers, and protective relaying.
You must demonstrate proficiency in interpreting and applying the National Electrical Code to industrial projects.
You need hands-on experience with electrical design software tools commonly used for modeling and analysis in engineering practice.
You should be familiar with motor control centers, variable frequency drives, and associated protection and metering schemes.
You must have the ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and detailed construction drawings.
You should be able to work effectively in a hybrid environment, committing to a minimum of three in-office days per week for collaboration and mentorship.
Nice to have
Experience with load flow studies, short circuit analysis, and arc flash hazard assessments is preferred.
Familiarity with project management tools and participation in project planning activities is advantageous.
Knowledge of industry-specific requirements for manufacturing, processing, or material handling facilities is beneficial.
Experience mentoring junior engineers or supporting professional development within a technical team is valued.
Practical notes
This role follows a hybrid schedule that requires in-office presence a minimum of three days per week to enable collaboration and mentorship.
Travel is generally not expected for this position, though project needs may occasionally require site visits.
