What you'll do
- Lead and mentor a team of six Purchasing Planners focused on mechanical and electrical purchasing and inventory management.

- Oversee inventory planning and purchasing execution for the APT business across all manufacturing plants.
- Monitor inventory levels, turnover rates, service levels, and backorders to ensure alignment with key performance indicators (KPIs) and corporate targets.
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies for mechanical and electrical categories, ensuring alignment with production capacity, demand, and supplier constraints.
- Collaborate with the Category Manager to synchronize sourcing strategies, supplier selection, and risk management plans.
- Drive supplier engagement strategies in conjunction with planners, focusing on capacity planning, lead time management, inventory positioning, and recovery planning.
- Serve as the primary point of escalation for supplier performance issues, shortages, or critical supply risks.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to enhance reliability, responsiveness, and cost-effectiveness.
- Act as the main procurement planning liaison between manufacturing plants, the supply base, category management, and logistics.
- Ensure effective communication regarding plant requirements, supplier capacities, and demand fluctuations.
- Collaborate with plant leadership to validate inventory targets and production support needs.
- Lead procurement planning discussions in monthly SIOP meetings, ensuring visibility and actionability of risks and constraints.
- Oversee the development and implementation of recovery plans for material shortages and backorders.
- Ensure that expediting, logistics coordination, and material movement are executed efficiently and consistently.
- Define, monitor, and drive performance against KPIs, including inventory turnover, backorder levels, on-time delivery, and supplier performance.
- Utilize data and analytics to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Champion process standardization, automation, and best practices across the planning team.
- Ensure compliance with RGA processes and maintain accountability for audit readiness.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in purchasing, inventory planning, or supply chain management.
- At least 7 years of experience in people management, ideally overseeing planners or buyers.
- A strong background in manufacturing, equipment, or industrial supply chains is essential.
- Proficient understanding of inventory financials, working capital, and cost drivers.
- Ability to balance service, inventory, and cost trade-offs at a portfolio level.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex supplier networks and multi-plant inventory models.
- Proven track record in fast-paced environments with high SKU variety and low volumes.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Excel, including planning models, analysis, and reporting.
- Capability to leverage ERP and reporting tools for KPI management and decision-making.

Practical notes
- The annual salary for this role ranges from $110,000 to $125,000, with a bonus target of 15%. The specific salary will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
