About the role

Sentry is looking for a Software Engineering Intern who will write real code on real projects that ship to production, avoiding the typical intern tasks that do not move the product forward. You will be treated like an engineer, not "an intern," and you will own a project from start to finish, including tech spec, scoping, implementation, testing, and shipping the whole thing. This is your chance to use AI tooling the way engineers actually use it, as part of the workflow, not as a party trick, while contributing to open source every single day. You will receive real feedback from engineers who care about craft, not just velocity, and you will build software that matters to real users around the world. Compensation: The base salary range for this position is $53.13 per hour. Requirements

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Computer Science or a related field, demonstrating a commitment to learning and applying technical concepts in an academic setting.

Proficient in Python, JavaScript, or a similar dynamic language, picked up through internships, personal projects, or coursework, so you can contribute meaningfully to production systems.

Solid grasp of algorithms and data structures fundamentals, enabling you to analyze problems and design efficient solutions under realistic constraints.

Comfortable using GitHub, including branching, pull requests, and code review, so you can collaborate effectively with distributed teams and follow modern development practices.

Experience collaborating on an engineering project with a team, whether from a class, open source contribution, a previous job, or other group work, showing you can work well with others.

Can pick up a new language or framework quickly and run with it, adapting to the tools and stacks used by the teams you are working with without slowing down.

At least one previous internship or equivalent hands-on experience, giving you a baseline of professional engineering practice and exposure to real-world constraints.

Available to start May 2027 and able to relocate to San Francisco for the duration of the internship, with support provided for travel and temporary housing to ease your move.
