The role in detail
As a Senior Growth Engineer, you will be the primary driver behind the experiments that fuel Semgrep's expansion. Your work will touch every stage of the user lifecycle, from the moment a new visitor lands on our site to the moment they become a committed customer. You will be tasked with developing sophisticated experiments that lower the barriers to trying Semgrep, a critical step in converting anonymous visitors into registered users. Once users are onboarded, you will focus on crafting experiences that encourage the adoption of AI features that generate personalized security rule sets based on language and security needs. This involves deep collaboration with product and engineering teams to ensure the technical feasibility and scalability of these experiences. You will not just implement features; you will analyze their impact, interpret the results, and iterate based on evidence. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to automating workflows that support customer acquisition and lead qualification. This includes building tools that enable the sales team to operate more efficiently and close deals faster. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of monetization capabilities tied to future AI product SKUs, directly impacting the company's ability to generate new revenue streams. This is a hands-on technical role where your code will directly influence business outcomes.
Collaboration is central to this position. You will work alongside RevOps to ensure that the data flowing through our systems accurately reflects the health of the growth funnel. You will communicate regularly with the Marketing team to align on campaign goals and ensure that the user experience matches the messaging. Close coordination with the Sales team will be necessary to understand the challenges they face in the field and to build solutions that address them directly. Finally, you will partner with the Product team to validate hypotheses and ensure that the experiments you run are aligned with the strategic objectives of the company. This cross-functional integration is essential for creating a cohesive growth strategy that leverages the strengths of every department.
Requirements redux
To be considered for this role, you must possess a genuine enthusiasm for data-driven decision making. You should be someone who looks at a dashboard not as a report, but as a roadmap for experimentation. Your technical foundation must be solid, with at least four years of experience building software that runs in production environments. Your daily work will involve writing Python, Typescript, and querying Postgres databases, so fluency in these areas is non-negotiable. Given the direction of our product roadmap, experience with AI coding agents is not just a plus; it is an essential requirement. You must be someone who thrives on understanding customer needs and rapidly deploying iterations to solve them. Communication is a core competency for this role; you must be able to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences with clarity and confidence. You must also be comfortable operating in an environment where priorities can shift quickly, requiring you to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Most importantly, you must be willing to take ownership of your work, seeing initiatives through from conception to completion.
The impact of your work will be significant. You will play a key role in determining how Semgrep grows its user base and converts that base into a sustainable business. Every line of code you write has the potential to affect thousands of users worldwide. This is an opportunity to build systems that scale and to leave a lasting mark on the company's trajectory. If you are passionate about growth, security, and building with purpose, we encourage you to consider this role.
