About the role

As a Health, Safety, and Quality (HSQ) Officer at Scorpio Group, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our operations adhere to the highest standards of health, safety, and quality. You will be responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures that promote a safe working environment and enhance the quality of our services. This position is vital to maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and fostering a culture of safety and quality within the organization.

What you'll do

Develop, implement, and maintain HSQ policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local and international regulations.
Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Provide training and support to employees on health, safety, and quality standards, ensuring that all staff are aware of their responsibilities.
Monitor and report on HSQ performance metrics, analyzing trends and making recommendations for improvements.
Collaborate with various departments to integrate HSQ practices into daily operations and decision-making processes.
Investigate incidents and accidents, preparing detailed reports and recommending preventive measures to avoid future occurrences.
Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes, ensuring that the organization remains compliant and competitive.
Facilitate communication between management and employees regarding HSQ matters, fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.
Assist in the preparation of documentation for external audits and inspections, ensuring that all necessary records are maintained.
Lead initiatives aimed at promoting a safety-first culture, including safety campaigns and employee engagement activities.
Serve as the primary point of contact for HSQ-related inquiries and concerns within the organization.
Participate in the development of emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure preparedness for potential incidents.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a health, safety, and quality role, preferably within a corporate or industrial setting.
Strong knowledge of local and international health, safety, and quality regulations and standards.
Proven experience in conducting risk assessments and implementing safety management systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with HSQ management software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Nice to have

Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) or equivalent.
Experience in the implementation of ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 45001).
Familiarity with environmental management systems and sustainability practices.
Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within HSQ.
Knowledge of emergency response and crisis management protocols.

Skills & tools

Proficient in risk assessment methodologies and safety management systems.
Strong understanding of quality assurance principles and practices.
Familiarity with incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.
Excellent presentation and training skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
Competence in using data analysis tools to track and report HSQ performance metrics.

Practical notes

This position is based in Athens, and candidates should be prepared for occasional travel to various operational sites as required.
The role may involve working outside of regular hours in case of emergencies or incidents.
