About the role
As a Senior Crew Officer at Scorpio Group, you will play a pivotal role in managing and coordinating the crew operations for our maritime fleet. This position requires a blend of leadership, organizational skills, and in-depth knowledge of crew management processes. You will be responsible for ensuring that all crew members are effectively deployed, compliant with regulations, and supported throughout their assignments. What you'll do
- Oversee the recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes for crew members, ensuring that all personnel meet the necessary qualifications and certifications.
- Develop and maintain crew schedules, ensuring optimal manning levels across all vessels while adhering to maritime regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with vessel management teams to assess crew performance and address any issues that may arise during assignments.
- Implement and manage training programs for crew members, focusing on safety, compliance, and professional development.
- Maintain accurate records of crew certifications, training, and performance evaluations to ensure compliance with international maritime standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for crew members, addressing their concerns and providing support throughout their assignments.
- Liaise with external agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with maritime laws and regulations related to crew management.
- Analyze crew performance metrics and provide recommendations for improvements to enhance operational efficiency and crew satisfaction.
- Participate in the development and implementation of crew management policies and procedures to streamline operations and enhance safety.
- Conduct regular audits of crew management practices to ensure adherence to company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support the management team in strategic planning and decision-making related to crew operations and resource allocation.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, communication, and professional growth among crew members.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in crew management or a related field within the maritime industry.
- Strong understanding of maritime regulations, safety standards, and crew management best practices.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team of professionals.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with crew members and management.
- Proficiency in crew management software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and demands.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
- A bachelor's degree in maritime studies, human resources, or a related field is preferred.
Nice to have
- Experience with international crew management and knowledge of various flag state regulations.
- Familiarity with training and development programs specific to the maritime industry.
- Additional certifications related to crew management or maritime safety.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly in languages relevant to our crew demographics.
