QA Lead - Star Trek Fleet Command

About the role

We are on the lookout for a QA Lead to take charge of the Live and Release testing operations for the popular game, Star Trek Fleet Command. In this role, you will lead a dynamic team of quality assurance analysts while working closely with product, engineering, and live operations teams to uphold the highest quality standards for our 4X strategy MMO. Your leadership will be pivotal in ensuring that our game continues to deliver an exceptional experience to our players.

What you'll do

• Guide and nurture a team of QA analysts, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
• Develop and implement quality assurance strategies for live operations, focusing on risk assessment and comprehensive test planning.
• Collaborate with engineering, product management, and customer support teams to proactively identify and address potential issues during the development phase.
• Oversee testing workflows involving both internal teams and external partners to ensure that delivery timelines and quality standards are consistently met.
• Enhance QA processes and reporting tools to improve scalability and boost confidence in release outcomes.
• Review post-release data to analyze bugs and refine future deployment cycles based on insights gained.
• Actively participate in the broader QA leadership group, contributing to the establishment of standardized practices and quality improvement initiatives.
• Facilitate communication between various departments to ensure alignment on project goals and quality expectations.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring QA teams within live service or software development contexts.
• Proven track record in managing team performance and fostering professional development among team members.
• Comprehensive understanding of software testing methodologies and release management processes.
• Ability to thrive in Agile environments, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Proficient in balancing business priorities with quality assurance needs to make informed, risk-based decisions.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders with data-driven insights and recommendations.
• Experience coordinating testing efforts across geographically distributed teams and external vendors.
• Familiarity with testing and project management tools such as Jira or TestRail.

Nice to have

• Experience with mobile free-to-play games or live service products, particularly in a QA capacity.
• Background in testing backend configurations, events, or content related to live operations.
• Knowledge of automation frameworks and best practices in quality engineering.
• Proficiency with monitoring and analytics tools such as Datadog, Google Play Console, or App Store Connect.
• Experience working with teams distributed across different global locations.
• A passion for strategy games, MMOs, or live service gaming, which can enhance your understanding of our player base.
