We are on the lookout for a dynamic technical leader to steer the backend and live-operations infrastructure for our WWE Champions team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the systems that handle game configuration, content delivery, and player-facing runtime services. What you'll do

• Lead, mentor, and develop a talented engineering team focused on backend services and internal live tools, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Oversee the creation and enhancement of systems dedicated to blueprint management, feature deployments, user segmentation, and A/B testing methodologies.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and analytics teams to ensure the reliable delivery of live-service features that enhance player experience.
• Uphold operational excellence by ensuring system performance, observability, and efficient incident response protocols are in place.
• Strategically balance the immediate demands of live operations with the long-term health of the platform and necessary architectural upgrades.
• Define and implement engineering workflows that encompass planning, release management, and quality assurance processes to streamline operations.
• Work alongside technical leads to address technical debt and enhance the safety of deployment processes, ensuring a robust and reliable system.
• Engage in regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members to support their professional growth.
• Drive initiatives that promote best practices in software development and operational efficiency across the engineering team.
• Participate in strategic planning sessions to align engineering objectives with broader company goals and vision.
• Foster an environment of innovation where team members are encouraged to propose new ideas and solutions that can enhance our products.

Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in software engineering, demonstrating a strong technical foundation.
• At least 1 year of experience in a leadership role, managing or guiding technical teams effectively.
• Proven experience in backend or platform engineering, particularly for live-service products or systems requiring high availability.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Django or similar frameworks that support large-scale service-oriented architectures.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, RESTful APIs, caching mechanisms, and asynchronous processing techniques.
• Practical experience with Redis and DynamoDB, particularly in environments that demand high throughput and low latency.
• Knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure and developer operations, ensuring seamless integration and deployment.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience that demonstrates your capabilities.

Nice to have

• Experience within the mobile gaming industry or adjacent backend environments that support gaming operations.
• Prior involvement with internal tools that facilitate game design, economy tuning, or live-ops workflows.
• Specialized knowledge in configuration systems, feature flags, and data-driven runtime behaviors that enhance game performance.
