About the role
As the , you will own the end-to-end investigation of the most complex financial crime cases impacting our platform and users. You will move beyond standard forensic reconstruction to influence long-term strategic risk initiatives and shape the future of our financial crime program. This role requires a high level of ownership in driving defensible investigations that protect our users and ensure strict regulatory compliance. You will act as a strategic partner to Product, Data, and Engineering, translating complex criminal patterns into actionable controls that strengthen our ecosystem. Your work will directly contribute to building trust and integrity within our rapidly evolving financial platform. You will challenge existing methodologies and establish new best practices for tackling emerging and sophisticated fraud typologies.

What you'll do
- High-Complexity Investigations - Lead end-to-end forensic investigations into sophisticated fraud types, including organized scam networks, complex merchant account takeover, and advanced AML/CTF syndicates.
- Forensic Reconstruction & Intelligence - Gather and analyze data from complex internal systems and advanced OSINT sources to uncover hidden links and build evidence-based intelligence packages regarding new and emerging criminal schemes.
- Mentorship & Quality Assurance - Act as a key escalation point for our first line of defence, challenging assumptions, providing guidance on complex cases, and conducting quality reviews on investigation files and documentation.
- Defensible Evidence Management - Apply meticulous attention to detail, ensuring all investigation steps, findings, and evidence are documented in an airtight, defensible manner ready for external auditors, law enforcement, or regulatory review.
- Advanced Regulatory Reporting - Author and review high-priority SAR/STR narratives for submission, ensuring the "Who, What, When, and Why" of a crime is indisputable under strict regulatory deadlines.
- Strategic Control Optimization - Translate complex investigative findings into actionable intelligence, partnering with Product, Data, and Engineering teams to patch systemic vulnerabilities and design next-generation monitoring controls.
- Focal Area Leadership - Own a critical 'Focal Area' to proactively hunt for emerging, new-to-market typologies and present trend analysis to FinCrime leadership.
- Process Improvement - Continuously evaluate and refine investigation workflows and methodologies to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in handling high-volume caseloads.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with Compliance, Legal, and Risk teams to ensure alignment on regulatory expectations and internal policy enforcement.
- Data-Driven Decision Making - Leverage advanced data analytics tools to identify patterns, anomalies, and indicators of compromise across large and disparate datasets.
- Threat Intelligence Integration - Incorporate third-party threat intelligence feeds and industry benchmarks to enhance the understanding of the evolving threat landscape.
- Documentation Excellence - Produce clear, concise, and technically sound investigation reports for internal stakeholders and external regulators.
Requirements
- Experience - 3+ years of demonstrable experience in end-to-end fraud, AML or corporate investigations. A background in Fintech is welcome, but we equally value experience in intelligence sectors, law enforcement, fast-paced banking, and complex corporate/advisory environments.
- Investigative & OSINT Mastery - Expert understanding of fraud principles, complex criminal typologies, and forensic reconstruction. Proven expertise in applying OSINT techniques.
- Working knowledge of AML/CFT regulations and the Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) framework is highly preferred but not mandatory for candidates with exceptional fraud investigation backgrounds.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CFE, CAMS) are a strong plus.
- Analytical Tenacity - Exceptional critical thinking skills with a natural refusal to take things at face value.
- Proficiency in navigating data analytics tools (like Looker, Splunk, HEX, or Redshift) and leveraging data to uncover the full scope of an issue.
- Leadership & Mentorship - Proven capability to guide, coach, and elevate the technical and investigative skills of peers and junior team members.
- Strategic Communication - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex, disparate datasets into clear, actionable briefs for executive leadership and external stakeholders.

Practical notes
- We embrace three days per week in-office (Tuesday and Thursday are mandatory in-office days).
- The role operates within standard working hours but may require flexibility to meet urgent regulatory or investigative priorities.
- This position is based in Luxembourg and is eligible for full-time employment under Luxembourgish labor regulations.
