Sr. Software Engineer
Job description
About the role
Rula is building the foundational layer where AI agents operate autonomously within enterprise workflows. This role is centered on constructing the durable infrastructure that allows intelligent agents to be developed, deployed, and observed at scale. You will own the systems that abstract complexity away from end users while exposing powerful capabilities to engineers. A significant portion of your contribution will focus on enabling non-technical stakeholders to leverage AI through clear interfaces and guided workflows. You will partner closely with product and design to ensure that the tools you build are intuitive and aligned with real user needs. Success in this position requires a balance of deep technical execution and a mindset for enabling others through documentation and support.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Architect and maintain the core infrastructure that hosts AI agents in production environments.
- Implement integrations with large language models and emerging AI tooling to standardize how agents are orchestrated.
- Define and evolve the platform interfaces that allow internal teams to connect their code with agentic workflows.
- Lead the design of observability and debugging tools specific to agent behavior and decision paths.
- Create reusable components that accelerate the development of new AI features across the organization.
- Establish guardrails and safety patterns that ensure agent actions remain within defined policy boundaries.
- Partner with product teams to translate high level product requirements into robust technical implementations.
- Mentor engineers on best practices for testing, logging, and monitoring agentic applications.
- Collaborate with security and compliance to ensure infrastructure meets enterprise standards for data protection.
- Drive the adoption of new AI development practices through hands on contributions and internal enablement sessions.
Requirements
- Hold a minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience with a demonstrated history of shipping scalable production systems.
- Possess substantial hands on experience with agentic coding tools, LLM integrations, and contemporary AI development workflows.
- Show a proven track record in developer relations or roles requiring strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to independently troubleshoot complex technical issues and refine engineering processes for greater efficiency.
- Exhibit a strong grasp of technical design principles, system architecture, and strategies for optimizing developer experience.
- Have direct experience managing the full lifecycle of software delivery including requirements, implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Bring comfort with ambiguity and the ability to make technical decisions in rapidly evolving problem spaces.
- Commit to writing clean, maintainable code that can be understood and extended by other engineers on the platform team.
Nice to have
- Accumulated more than 2 years of experience within a large, established engineering organization.
- Designed and implemented agent frameworks or custom systems built on top of LLMs.
- Managed cloud environments and automated CI/CD pipelines as part of standard delivery practices.
- Used data analysis to guide architectural decisions and resolve recurring operational issues.
- Contributed to open source projects or internal tools that are used by multiple teams.
- Worked in organizations that prioritize rigorous code review and testing standards.
- Built integrations with third party APIs that required deep understanding of authentication and rate limiting.
- Shipped features that required coordination across multiple engineering teams and stakeholders.
