What you'll do

• Lead a team of machine learning engineers, providing mentorship and guidance to foster their professional growth and technical skills.
• Oversee the design, development, and deployment of machine learning models that improve user experience and content recommendations on the Roku platform.
• Collaborate with product managers and data scientists to define project scopes, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
• Conduct regular code reviews and technical assessments to maintain high standards of software quality and performance.
• Drive the adoption of best practices in machine learning, including model validation, testing, and performance monitoring.
• Manage project timelines and resource allocation, ensuring that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
• Stay current with industry trends and advancements in machine learning technologies, integrating relevant innovations into our projects.
• Facilitate communication between engineering teams and other departments, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop and implement strategies for scaling machine learning solutions to handle increasing user demands and data volumes.
• Analyze system performance metrics and user feedback to identify areas for improvement and optimize machine learning models accordingly.
• Prepare and present technical reports and project updates to senior management, articulating complex concepts in an understandable manner.
• Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation within the team, encouraging creative problem-solving and experimentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a managerial role focused on machine learning.
• Proven expertise in machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar technologies.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong analytical mindset.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a technical team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies and project management tools.

Nice to have

• Experience in the streaming media industry or related fields.
• Knowledge of data engineering practices and tools, including ETL processes and data warehousing.
• Familiarity with natural language processing (NLP) or computer vision applications.
• Previous experience in developing and deploying large-scale machine learning systems.
