About the role
You will serve as a strategic legal advisor embedded within the product development lifecycle for consumer-facing features on the Roblox platform. This role owns the legal risk assessment and compliance strategy for products that directly engage millions of users around the world. You will act as the primary legal interface for product and engineering teams, translating complex regulatory landscapes into actionable product decisions. The position requires deep expertise in evolving laws governing online interactions, content moderation, and consumer protection. You will be responsible for ensuring that product initiatives can launch safely and legally without compromising innovation speed. You will build influence across the organization by establishing trusted relationships and providing clear, practical guidance.

What you'll do
- Partner with product and engineering leaders to evaluate the legal implications of new consumer features from initial concept through launch.
- Analyze regulatory obligations related to user authentication, account management, and parental control mechanisms across multiple jurisdictions.
- Develop and maintain compliance frameworks addressing age assurance, content safety, and data privacy for consumer-facing interactions.
- Draft clear product policies and user-facing disclosures that balance legal requirements with user experience and platform integrity.
- Advise on the legality of social interaction features, including real-time chat, discovery systems, and algorithmic personalization.
- Coordinate legal strategy with trust and safety, product policy, and marketing teams to ensure aligned execution.
- Monitor global legislative and regulatory trends impacting digital platforms and translate updates into product requirements.
- Review and negotiate terms of service and related legal documents to mitigate risk while supporting product scalability.
- Serve as a subject matter expert within the company by leading training sessions and building knowledge resources for cross-functional teams.
- Proactively identify emerging risks in product roadmaps and recommend mitigation strategies before issues arise.
- Collaborate with external counsel and regulators to resolve complex compliance matters impacting consumer products.
- Drive the creation of internal playbooks and decision trees to standardize legal reviews for future product initiatives.
- Measure and report on compliance metrics to support continuous improvement of product governance.
- Champion a culture of ethical product development by embedding legal thinking into early-stage discussions.
Requirements
- Admitted to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction and in good standing with the bar.
- Possess a minimum of five years of legal experience, including a combination of law firm and in-house roles within consumer technology.
- Demonstrated background advising on issues related to children's safety, privacy, or parental controls in digital products.
- Experience counseling social media platforms, communications services, or other products with interactive user features.
- Strong business judgment with the ability to analyze problems and propose creative, practical, and legally sound solutions.
- Proven capacity to manage a complex and competing workload while maintaining strict attention to priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders at all levels.
- Track record of working effectively within matrixed organizations that require consensus building across teams.
- Deep understanding of U.S. and international laws related to online safety, content regulation, consumer protection, and advertising.
- Commitment to staying current with rapidly evolving legal frameworks affecting digital platforms.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for meetings, conferences, or legal proceedings as business needs require.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without requiring work authorization sponsorship.

Practical notes
