About the role
In this position, you will play a critical role in enhancing the financial and operational performance of companies within the manufacturing and distribution sectors. Your primary responsibility will be to work closely with clients to uncover areas for improvement and implement strategic changes that boost profitability and optimize cash flow. This role requires collaboration with a variety of stakeholders, including private equity firms and their associated companies, to drive meaningful transformations.

What you'll do
- Conduct thorough evaluations of manufacturing and distribution processes, focusing on aspects such as organizational structure, production capacity, planning, quality assurance, warehousing, and workforce efficiency.
- Assess existing Sales, Operations, and Inventory Planning (SIOP/S&OP) frameworks to identify discrepancies and areas for enhancement.
- Analyze both historical and current operational metrics to gauge productivity levels, equipment utilization, maintenance protocols, and production patterns.
- Organize and lead collaborative workshops to ensure alignment among commercial, operations, finance, and supply chain teams.
- Facilitate integrated planning sessions that harmonize customer demand with supply constraints and financial goals.
- Design and optimize inventory management strategies, employing techniques like ABC/XYZ analysis, lifecycle management, and service level trade-offs.
- Assist in the creation and deployment of perpetual inventory systems and control mechanisms.
- Develop and implement key performance indicators for measuring forecast accuracy, inventory turnover, service levels, and the impact on working capital.
- Convert operational enhancements into financial gains, focusing on reducing working capital, improving cash flow, and increasing profit margins.
- Formulate actionable transformation roadmaps that prioritize initiatives, establish key performance indicators, and identify potential risks along with strategies to mitigate them.
- Collaborate with client leadership and cross-functional teams to execute approved transformation initiatives, ensuring measurable improvements in both operational and financial performance.
- Lead engagement teams, manage client relationships on a daily basis, and deliver exceptional quality of work and client service.
Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in both industry and consulting, with at least 4 years dedicated to manufacturing and/or distribution operations.
- A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience working with executive leadership, including C-suite executives, private equity sponsors, and operating partners.
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities, including expertise in business process mapping, operational assessments, and quantitative analysis.
- Experience in leading organizational change initiatives and managing change effectively.
- Willingness to travel as needed to meet client demands.
- In-depth functional knowledge in areas such as Supply Chain Operations, Manufacturing Operations, SIOP (Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning), footprint optimization, plant consolidation, and product line transfers. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints (TOC), and Value Engineering is also essential.
Nice to have
- An MBA or certifications such as APICS/ASCM would be advantageous.
- Previous advisory experience with a prestigious strategy firm, a leading specialist or boutique advisory firm, or a Big Four consulting organization.
- Experience collaborating with private equity sponsors and their associated portfolio companies.
