About the role
Riot Games is looking for a Senior UI Designer to join the League of Legends team in Dublin. You will focus on creating high-quality visual interfaces that enhance the player experience within the world of Runeterra. This is a 12-month contract position requiring a designer who can balance artistic vision with functional game requirements. You will operate at the intersection of player psychology and interface clarity, ensuring that every screen communicates effectively with a global audience. The role demands a strategic partner who can translate abstract creative goals into coherent, production-ready UI flows. Success in this position will depend on your ability to iterate quickly while maintaining a high standard of visual polish. You will be responsible for the end-to-end visual language of key interfaces, from initial sketches to final implementation checks.

What you'll do
- Define and shape the UI direction for League of Legends features to align with creative and artistic goals, acting as the visual voice of the interface.
- Build intuitive, readable interfaces that account for player behavior, cognitive load, and visual hierarchy across complex game states.
- Establish and maintain design systems, style guides, and conventions across the project to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Collaborate with art, engineering, and game design teams to implement visual content from initial concept sketches to final engine integration.
- Elevate the quality of visual communication while working autonomously within the Dublin office, taking ownership of your craft.
- Translate high-level design documentation and game design documents into pixel-perfect mockups and interactive prototypes.
- Advocate for the player perspective by identifying friction points and proposing data-informed visual improvements to the interface.
- Optimize assets and workflows to support localization, performance constraints, and technical limitations without sacrificing clarity.
- Partner with engineers to ensure accurate implementation of designs, paying close attention to spacing, typography, and color fidelity.
- Contribute to the long-term visual strategy of League of Legends by exploring emerging trends in UI, motion, and accessibility.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience as a UI Designer, UI Artist, or Visual Designer, with a strong portfolio to demonstrate your work.
- Proven track record of contributing to a major game, product launch, or entertainment property that reached a wide audience.
- Expert proficiency in Figma, including the ability to create and manage complex design systems and component libraries.
- A strong understanding of UI principles such as responsiveness, accessibility, and usability within interactive products.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, agile environment where priorities can shift based on production needs and player feedback.
- Excellent communication skills, allowing you to articulate design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A disciplined approach to file organization, naming conventions, and version control to keep collaborative work streamlined.
- Willingness to engage directly with players and internal partners to gather feedback and validate design solutions.
Nice to have
- Experience with game development pipelines, including localization, optimization, and implementation, to streamline the handoff process.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Photoshop, for editing and creating production-ready assets.
- Familiarity with Unity or Unreal game engines, providing insight into technical constraints and capabilities.
- Background in animation, motion graphics, illustration, or modeling, which can add depth to your visual storytelling.

Compensation is set between 75,285.00 and 111,000.00 EUR, reflecting the scope and responsibility of the position. Applicants should be prepared to discuss their professional background and personal history with gaming in an interview setting. The engagement is structured as a 12-month contract, providing a defined period for impactful contributions. Travel is not required beyond the standard expectations of the Dublin office location.
