You will own the complex tax compliance and advisory landscape for our Southeast Asia region, translating intricate regulatory changes into precise and timely filings. This role requires you to leverage cutting edge AI and technology to streamline tax processes and drive efficiency across multiple legal entities. You will serve as a key technical and strategic partner to both our internal business teams and external stakeholders. The position demands rigorous analysis, strong judgment, and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating tax risks. You will be instrumental in shaping and enforcing robust tax controls while fostering a service oriented and collaborative team environment.

What you'll do
Perform the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and yearly tax filings for Southeast Asia legal entities, utilizing AI and technology to uncover efficiency gains and enhance existing workflows.
Refine, implement, and enforce tax controls and procedures specific to the APAC region, ensuring alignment with best practices and a high standard of service delivery.
Report directly to the APAC Head of Tax (Tax Director), applying comprehensive tax knowledge and strong judgment to evaluate complex situations and advise business stakeholders.
Manage the full cycle of direct tax compliance, including Withholding Tax and Income Tax instalments, as well as indirect tax returns such as VAT, GST, and Digital Service Tax across Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, India, and Thailand.
Handle the annual income tax filing process for Southeast Asian entities, with primary responsibility for Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and India.
Collaborate closely with the Accounts Payable team and Treasury to guarantee that all tax filings and corresponding payments are executed accurately and on schedule.
Conduct detailed annual health checks on periodic tax returns by employing suitable technological tools to identify weaknesses and strengthen internal control mechanisms.
Coordinate tax audit activities, preparing all necessary supporting documentation to facilitate effective audit defense in Southeast Asia.
Review contracts in partnership with the Legal, Accounting, Treasury, and Strategy Finance teams, providing tax insights during negotiations to achieve optimal outcomes for cross border transactions.
Monitor digital tax developments and regulatory updates in major Southeast Asian markets, updating risk assessments and driving automation to improve process efficiency.
Actively contribute to other ad hoc advisory initiatives in the SEA region, including supporting the accounting team during EDB audits as required.
Assist the broader APAC tax team with specialized projects, ensuring alignment with group objectives and regulatory expectations.
Support Global tax teams by delivering ad hoc reports and analysis that aid in strategic decision making and compliance efforts.
Continuously seek opportunities to apply new technologies and methodologies to improve the accuracy and speed of tax operations.
Requirements
Hold a Bachelor's degree in accounting or business, or a graduate degree in taxation, providing a solid theoretical foundation for advanced tax analysis.
Possess a qualified CPA certification, demonstrating a commitment to professional standards and technical excellence in the tax field.
Bring over 8 years of dedicated tax experience, with a substantial focus on compliance roles within the Southeast Asia region, including exposure in both Big 4 and corporate environments.
Show a strong grasp of tax concepts and practical experience managing compliance activities across multiple Southeast Asian jurisdictions.
Have prior experience working with digital services or platform-based organizations, where cash or tax basis reporting models are prevalent.
Be detail oriented and service oriented, ensuring high accuracy and a commitment to supporting internal and external stakeholders.
Be a self starter who thrives in collaborative settings, capable of communicating complex tax positions clearly and executing decisions efficiently.
Maintain a can do attitude with strong ownership and a deep sense of responsibility for deadlines, deliverables, and regulatory obligations.
Exhibit strong written and oral communication skills to articulate technical information to diverse audiences.
Demonstrate strong organizational skills and business acumen to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment.
Fluent proficiency in Mandarin is required, along with competency in other local languages of the region to engage effectively with local stakeholders.
Nice to have
Preferred candidates will have experience working within highly regulated industries that require strict compliance oversight.
Experience with advanced automation tools or AI platforms that can be applied to tax processes is strongly favored.
Practical notes
This role is based in the Singapore office.
Travel may be required within the Southeast Asia region for audits, stakeholder meetings, or regulatory engagements.
