About the role
ALSO, a pioneering company in electric mobility, is on the lookout for a Senior Reliability Engineer to play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability of various electric vehicle models during their development phases. This position will involve establishing reliability benchmarks, innovating testing methodologies, and scrutinizing field performance data to enhance product durability. You will also provide guidance to engineering teams regarding potential failure modes and conduct thorough risk assessments.

What you'll do
- Establish reliability objectives and metrics for new electric vehicle components, including actuators, batteries, drive units, circuit boards, and chassis systems.
- Develop innovative reliability testing methodologies and specifications, such as accelerated life testing and environmental assessments.
- Utilize acceleration models to forecast product lifespan under various stress scenarios.
- Create comprehensive test plans and reports, offering regular updates on the progress of testing initiatives.
- Provide expert advice to engineering teams on potential failure modes, recommend countermeasures, and develop design guidelines, including risk analysis for design decisions.
- Continuously monitor product performance in real-world conditions to detect and analyze failure trends.
- Lead cross-functional teams in conducting Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEAs) and formulate design verification plans based on these analyses.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure that reliability considerations are integrated throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Analyze data from reliability tests to identify areas for improvement and recommend design changes as necessary.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in reliability engineering to continuously enhance testing processes and methodologies.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of reliability within the organization.
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in the field of reliability engineering is essential.
- Technical expertise in areas such as PCBA reliability, energy storage systems, drive units, or chassis components is necessary.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, with a preference for Python.
- Familiarity with statistical software tools for reliability analysis, including JMP, ReliaSoft, or MATLAB.
- Understanding of failure analysis techniques, including Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Computed Tomography (CT), X-Ray, Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), and Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR).
- Experience with data acquisition instruments such as thermocouples, strain gauges, and accelerometers is required.
- Proven track record in implementing reliability testing protocols and developing new testing strategies.
- Capability to utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software, such as Ansys Sherlock, for predicting product lifespan during test development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Nice to have
- Experience in the electric vehicle industry or related sectors is a plus.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance requirements in the automotive or electric mobility space.
- Knowledge of advanced statistical methods and reliability modeling techniques.
- Previous experience in mentoring or training junior engineers is advantageous.
- Certification in reliability engineering (e.g., CRE or CMRP) would be beneficial.

Practical notes
This position is primarily on-site, requiring attendance five days a week at the Palo Alto office. After an initial onboarding period, there may be limited flexibility for remote work, subject to managerial approval and business requirements.
