Bamboohr is seeking a highly skilled Data & Analytics Engineering Lead to join our dynamic team in Tallinn, Estonia. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the development and implementation of data-driven solutions that enhance our operations and service delivery. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our data architecture supports our strategic goals, while also mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of innovation within the team.

What you'll do

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable data pipelines and architectures to support analytics and reporting needs across the organization.
• Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Develop and maintain ETL processes to ensure the integrity and availability of data for analysis and reporting.
• Monitor and optimize data workflows to improve performance and reduce latency in data processing.
• Establish best practices for data governance, security, and compliance, ensuring that all data handling meets regulatory requirements.
• Mentor and guide a team of data engineers, providing technical leadership and fostering professional growth.
• Conduct regular code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices within the team.
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering and analytics, and evaluate their potential application within Bamboohr.
• Collaborate with IT and infrastructure teams to ensure that data systems are robust, secure, and scalable.
• Prepare and present reports on data initiatives and performance metrics to senior management and stakeholders.
• Engage with external partners and vendors to assess new tools and technologies that can enhance our data capabilities.
• Drive a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization by promoting the use of data analytics in various departments.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering or a related field, with a strong focus on data architecture and analytics.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, with experience in data manipulation and transformation.
• Extensive knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Familiarity with big data technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka is highly desirable.
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, particularly in relation to data storage and processing solutions.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and data governance principles.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven experience in leading and mentoring teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with machine learning frameworks and tools, such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
• Knowledge of data privacy regulations, such as GDPR, and experience implementing compliance measures.
• Previous experience in the transportation or mobility sector would be an advantage.
