About the role
Render is seeking an Engineering Manager, Product to join its growing platform team in a fully remote role based in the United States. In this position, you will own the leadership, growth, and delivery of the core developer experience for the Render platform. You will be responsible for guiding technical strategy, managing a team of product engineers, and ensuring that high-quality features are delivered efficiently. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical contribution and people leadership to navigate complex product challenges. You will translate user and customer needs into actionable engineering roadmaps while maintaining the reliability and performance that developers expect from Render. The ideal candidate will deeply understand product engineering and be passionate about enabling other builders to succeed.

What you'll do
- Lead and grow a team of product engineers, supporting their development through mentorship, feedback, and clear technical guidance.
- Drive execution on key product initiatives from ideation through launch, balancing speed with high standards of reliability and quality.
- Partner closely with Product and Design teams to translate customer needs into thoughtful technical solutions and product roadmaps.
- Engage deeply in technical discussions, guiding system design decisions and helping the team navigate architectural tradeoffs.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across engineering practices and team processes.
- Help the team break down complex problems into incremental milestones that deliver value quickly while supporting long-term platform evolution.
- Ensure teams maintain a strong understanding of the developer experience and customer impact of the features they build.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with product management, customers, and internal teams to understand needs, align priorities, and ensure delivery of impactful features and solutions.
- Define and refine engineering best practices to support scalable and maintainable platform development over time.
- Monitor and communicate progress of product initiatives, identifying risks early and coordinating adjustments to keep delivery on track.
- Support the career growth of engineers by providing learning opportunities, constructive feedback, and clear pathways for advancement.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools, infrastructure, and processes that improve the efficiency and experience of the engineering organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize work that balances user value, technical debt, and platform scalability.
- Act as an extension of the product organization, ensuring engineering constraints and opportunities are considered in product decisions.
Requirements
- 8+ years as an Engineer shipping products and/or features that have downstream impact on the business and product ecosystem.
- 2+ years of experience managing people and developing engineers, including hiring, mentorship, and performance management.
- Strong technical background with the ability to engage deeply in system design, architecture, and engineering tradeoffs.
- Product-oriented mindset with experience translating business goals and user needs into engineering roadmaps and shipped features.
- Ability to balance urgency with thoughtful execution, helping teams ship quickly while maintaining high quality.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and design.
- A strong sense of ownership and accountability for both team outcomes and long-term platform health in a fast-growing environment.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment while maintaining clarity on priorities and delivery commitments.
Nice to have
- Experience working with developer platforms, infrastructure, or internal tools at scale.
- Background in AI-native application development or interest in how AI transforms software development and deployment.
- Familiarity with modern cloud infrastructure concepts, observability, and automated deployment workflows.
- Experience implementing and improving engineering processes such as code review, design reviews, and onboarding practices.
- Track record of mentoring engineers through career growth and performance improvement plans.
