Senior Data Analyst
Job description
About the role
Relay is fundamentally reshaping how goods move in an online era. Backed by Europe's largest-ever logistics Series A ($35M), led by deep-tech investors Plural (whose portfolio spans fusion energy and space exploration), Relay is scaling faster than 99.98% of venture-backed startups. We're assembling the most talent-dense team the logistics industry has ever seen. The role grants you ownership over the critical analytics infrastructure that allows the finance organization to interpret complex operational realities. You will own the end-to-end analytics lifecycle for key finance domains, from raw ingestion to executive-ready storytelling. This position requires you to translate chaotic operational signals into coherent narratives that drive high-stakes strategic choices. You will be the primary architect of financial visibility into the performance of the Relay network. Your work will directly influence how the company allocates capital and prioritizes growth initiatives.
Key facts
What you'll do
Analyze driver-level economics to uncover margin leakage and model the financial impact of routing or operational changes.
Build and maintain cost per parcel dashboards that dissect variable and fixed components across client segments and geographies.
Champion profitability modeling for expansion scenarios, evaluating the viability of new service tiers or geographic footprints.
Architect client and cohort performance views that reveal retention risks and lifetime value trajectories for key accounts.
Deconstruct pricing dynamics by designing experiments and analyses that isolate the impact of rate changes on volume and profitability.
Develop operational KPIs dashboards that track network health, ensuring leadership can spot systemic issues before they escalate.
Translate raw warehouse and transit data into forecasts that finance can use for cash flow planning and scenario modeling.
Own the semantic layer and metric definitions to ensure consistency and trust across all financial reporting lines.
Collaborate with the Senior Data Scientist to align simulation outputs with real-world financial outcomes and decision frameworks.
Synthesize insights from disparate squads into cohesive narratives that answer specific commercial questions from finance stakeholders.
Establish data quality checks and documentation that sustain the reliability of financial models as the network scales exponentially.
Lead ad hoc investigations into anomalous financial performance, drilling into root causes with structured analytical rigor.
Design A/B test analytics strategies that measure the incremental impact of pricing or product changes on key financial metrics.
Define the future-state analytics roadmap for the finance squad, prioritizing initiatives that unlock higher-margin growth.
Requirements
Aim with Precision: You define problems clearly and measure your impact meticulously.

You demonstrate mastery over BI and visualization platforms, using them to design clear, actionable dashboards.
You communicate clearly with non-technical partners, explaining data provenance and limitations without jargon.
You are comfortable working across teams, building trust with squads to pull metrics and ensure data integrity.
You thrive in fast-paced environments where hypotheses are tested quickly and results are debated constructively.
You understand how finance teams think about metrics, drivers, and the constraints of GAAP accounting.
Nice to have
Experience working within a logistics, e-commerce, or marketplace operating model.
Prior exposure to pricing or profitability analytics in a B2B context.
