Key facts
What you'll do
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative design concepts for various apparel lines, including clothing, accessories, and footwear.
- Conduct market research to identify current trends, consumer preferences, and competitive analysis to inform design decisions.
- Create detailed technical specifications and sketches to communicate design ideas effectively to production teams.
- Ensure that all designs align with Reformation's commitment to sustainability and environmentally-friendly practices.
- Participate in fittings and provide constructive feedback to refine products and ensure quality standards are met.
- Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure the feasibility of designs and adherence to timelines.
- Assist in the development of seasonal collections, contributing to mood boards and presentations for internal reviews.
- Engage in brainstorming sessions to generate fresh ideas and innovative solutions that enhance the customer experience.
- Maintain organized records of design processes and revisions to ensure clear communication throughout the development cycle.
- Stay updated on industry developments and advancements in sustainable materials and production methods to continually enhance design practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in apparel design or a similar role within the fashion industry.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design styles and techniques, particularly in sustainable fashion.
- Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and CAD tools.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, textiles, and production processes.
- A passion for sustainability and a desire to contribute to environmentally responsible fashion initiatives.
Nice to have
- Experience in knitwear design, print and textile design, or technical design.
- Familiarity with sustainable materials and eco-friendly production techniques.
- Previous experience in a retail or e-commerce environment, particularly in a design capacity.
- Knowledge of global fashion markets and cultural influences on design trends.
