Senior Product Manager, Redis Core (Document Database) - Product Management - Germany

What you'll do

In this capacity, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of our document database feature set, from initial discovery and requirements gathering through to launch and post-launch optimization. You will partner with engineering leaders to break down complex problems into manageable technical tasks that can be delivered iteratively. You will conduct regular user interviews and analyze usage metrics to validate hypotheses and ensure the product direction aligns with real customer pain points. You will create detailed product requirements documents (PRDs) and user stories that provide unambiguous guidance for the development team. You will collaborate with design teams to prototype user flows and ensure the interface remains intuitive even as complexity grows. You will monitor key performance indicators to assess the success of new features and use these insights to inform future priorities. You will also serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams, ensuring clear communication regarding timelines, dependencies, and trade-offs.

Your daily responsibilities will involve conducting competitive analysis of document databases to identify gaps and opportunities for differentiation. You will work alongside our engineering teams in Germany and globally to refine technical approaches and resolve implementation challenges. You will advocate for the customer perspective within sprint planning sessions to ensure user needs remain central to technical decisions. You will evaluate the feasibility of proposed features based on technical constraints and resource availability. You will maintain a strong knowledge of industry trends in database technology, particularly regarding document stores and JSON processing. You will contribute to the development of go-to-market strategies by providing key messaging and value proposition details to the sales and marketing teams. You will manage stakeholder expectations by providing transparent updates on progress and potential roadblocks. You will ensure that all product initiatives comply with relevant data security and privacy standards.

This role demands a high degree of self-motivation and the ability to operate effectively with minimal supervision in a remote setting. You must be comfortable making decisions in the absence of perfect information and be willing to adjust course based on new evidence. Strong written communication skills are essential, as you will be producing documentation that will be referenced by engineers, executives, and customers. You should be comfortable presenting complex ideas in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical audiences. The ability to synthesize feedback from diverse sources and turn it into a coherent product vision is critical. You will need to balance short-term tactical objectives with long-term strategic goals to ensure sustainable product growth.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of launching successful products in a fast-paced, agile environment. You should be passionate about building tools that empower developers and simplify their work with data. Your experience should include working with data-intensive applications where performance and scalability are critical concerns. You will need to navigate ambiguity and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment where requirements can shift quickly. Collaboration across time zones is a regular part of the role, requiring patience and flexibility.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software product management or a comparable role within an enterprise environment.
• Deep understanding of document-oriented data models and application data patterns, especially those involving JSON.
• Exceptional ability to articulate both high-level concepts and detailed technical specifications, both in written and verbal forms.
• Proficient in coding, enabling effective collaboration with engineering teams on technical designs and implementations.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in managing database, infrastructure, or storage products is a plus.
• Familiarity with well-known document databases such as Couchbase, Firestore, or Aerospike.
• Background in developing developer-centric APIs, SDKs, or tools that enhance user experience.
• Prior experience with NoSQL or real-time databases, with a preference for familiarity with Redis.
