Position Overview and Impact
As a Test Engineer, you will serve as the definitive authority on system reliability for critical national security projects. Your primary responsibility involves architecting and executing comprehensive test strategies that validate the performance and security of sophisticated hardware and software. You will design advanced automated test frameworks that proactively identify risks and verify compliance with stringent governmental standards. Your work will directly influence the acceptance and deployment of mission-ready solutions, ensuring they function flawlessly under demanding conditions. This position requires close collaboration with development and engineering teams to integrate testing throughout the entire lifecycle, from initial design through final implementation.
Core Responsibilities
- Architect and implement sophisticated automated test frameworks to validate complex system behaviors.
- Design and execute exhaustive Test and Evaluation (T&E) protocols to verify adherence to all contractual and security requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance scalable automated test scripts capable of handling diverse application portfolios.
- Author detailed test cases and generate comprehensive status reports that provide clear insight into project progress for executive leadership.
- Analyze intricate test results to produce actionable intelligence on system readiness and potential vulnerabilities.
- Provide specialized testing expertise for highly complex software and hardware systems, guiding resolution efforts.
- Lead and contribute to all stages of risk management assessments within the software and hardware development lifecycle.
- Interpret detailed user requirements to determine optimal testing methodologies and architectural approaches.
- Partner with developers and engineers to embed testing practices into every phase of the development process.
Professional Requirements and Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following stringent criteria to be considered for this role.
- Possess an active TS/SCI security clearance with a completed Polygraph.
- Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Demonstrate a minimum of five years of professional experience within test engineering or a related technical field.
- Proven capability in designing, authoring, and implementing automated test scripts and architectures.
- Documented experience leading risk management assessments for intricate technical systems.
- Exceptional analytical skills to translate complex user requirements into detailed, executable test procedures.
- Experience with Redhorse-favored tools such as GitLab for CI/CD and Jira for bug tracking.
- Familiarity with cloud-native testing environments like Databricks or AWS.
- Knowledge of various automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or PyTest.
- Experience testing both software applications and specialized hardware components.
- Certifications such as ISTQB Certified Tester or similar industry-standard credentials.
- Prior experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or Intelligence Community (IC) mission sets.
Compensation and Benefits
The target base salary for this position is $128,000.00 annually, reflecting the requirement for 3-5 years of relevant experience. Final compensation will be determined through a comprehensive review of factors including specific experience, educational background, relevant certifications, technical skills, security clearance status, geographic location, current market conditions, and internal equity considerations. Beyond base compensation, eligible team members may enroll in Redhorse's comprehensive benefits programs and may qualify for performance-based incentive compensation where applicable.
