Senior Engineering Manager
Job description
About the role
Rad AI is actively seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead one of our core product engineering teams in shaping the future of healthcare through artificial intelligence. The role owner will be responsible for end-to-end execution on critical product roadmaps that directly impact radiology workflows used by thousands of clinicians daily. You will raise the technical bar by guiding architectural and design decisions to ensure systems meet healthcare-grade reliability and compliance standards. This position requires navigating complex tradeoffs between innovation, delivery speed, and operational stability in a high-stakes medical environment. You will partner cross-functionally with diverse stakeholders to translate clinical and customer problems into actionable engineering initiatives. The role demands a leader who can balance strategic technical vision with hands-on execution and mentorship. Ultimately, you will define how clinicians experience AI-powered solutions that support medical imaging and decision-making at scale.

Requirements
- 6-8+ years of experience managing software engineers with a proven track record leading teams that ship and operate production software at scale.
- A strong engineering foundation where you started as a hands-on engineer and are still comfortable going deep in technical discussions even if you're no longer the primary coder.
- Experience leading teams building production web or cloud applications in modern stacks (e.g., Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, distributed systems on a major cloud provider).
- Excellent execution and stakeholder management: you set clear priorities, navigate tradeoffs, and keep teams aligned when requirements evolve.
- Strong communication across technical and non-technical audiences with a track record of influencing across functions without formal authority.
- A pragmatic, outcomes-oriented mindset where you've balanced ideal architecture with real-world constraints and have bias toward incremental, value-driven delivery.
- Genuine enjoyment of building and scaling healthy engineering teams: hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment where decisions directly impact patient care and clinical workflows.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with healthcare data workflows, medical imaging pipelines, or regulatory considerations such as HIPAA and DICOM standards.
