SDR Manager
Job description
About the role
The SDR Manager at Pylon will define and execute the outbound motion for our first San Francisco based SDR leadership position. You will shape process, messaging, and playbooks from the ground up. You will own the end to end lifecycle of the SDR function, including hiring, coaching, and developing a high performing team that consistently exceeds pipeline goals. You will partner closely with customer facing teams to align on messaging, handoff quality, and feedback loops that improve conversion. You will leverage deep account level context to prioritize the right accounts and ensure the team focuses on the most strategic opportunities. You will build and refine cadences, tooling, and ramp plans that scale predictably as the organization grows. You will be evaluated on your ability to build a system where reps improve over time and the motion compounds in effectiveness. You will report directly to the founder, operating with autonomy to set direction and drive execution on the front line.
What you'll do
Architect the SDR function by defining process, messaging, sequencing, and ramp plans that turn basic playbooks into a scalable engine. Recruit, interview, and hire SDRs, owning headcount planning and ensuring the team is built with the right skills and cultural fit. Coach and develop reps through 1:1s, call reviews, and pipeline analysis, driving measurable improvement in each rep's performance. Own the team's outbound pipeline targets, accountable for meetings booked, opportunities created, and overall pipeline generation. Manage performance rigorously by setting clear expectations, tracking individual and team metrics, and coaching underperformers. Partner with AEs on messaging and handoff quality while collaborating with marketing on targeting, campaigns, and feedback loops. Report directly to the founder, acting as the primary driver of GTM alignment between SDR efforts and founder vision. Set target account criteria, defining the profile for organizations of 150 to 1000 employees and guiding the team toward those accounts. Leverage a modern sales stack such as SFDC and engagement tools like Amplemarket to operationalize workflows and derive actionable insights. Operate with autonomy and strong judgment, communicating clearly and making decisions that move the team and company forward.
Requirements
2+ years managing an SDR team, with a proven history of hiring, developing, and scaling reps in an early stage environment. Demonstrated success in hiring for and growing a team, rather than inheriting an established group without prior ownership. Track record of your team consistently hitting or exceeding pipeline and quota targets through disciplined execution. Strong coaching ability, capable of diagnosing conversion issues and implementing specific fixes that improve rep effectiveness. Experience building or shaping outbound motion, including process, messaging, and sequencing, even if working within an existing framework. Hands on familiarity with a modern sales stack such as SFDC and tools like Amplemarket, using data to manage and optimize team performance. Clear, autonomous communicator who thrives with minimal hand holding and maintains a direct line to leadership. Prior experience selling or managing a team selling into support, customer success, or post sales roles is a bonus but not required.
Perks
The company offers the following benefits which may be described in more detail on the Pylon careers site: Fully covered medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees. 401(k) retirement plan. Commuter benefits. Parental leave. 14 company holidays plus unlimited PTO. Annual offsite. Lunch, dinner, and snacks at the office. Fitness stipend.
