What you'll do
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and manufacturing, to develop product concepts that align with market trends and customer feedback.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis to understand user needs, market demands, and emerging design trends that can inform your design decisions.
- Create detailed sketches, 3D models, and prototypes using industry-standard design software to visualize and communicate your ideas effectively.
- Develop and refine product specifications, ensuring that designs meet safety, usability, and manufacturability standards.
- Present design concepts to stakeholders, incorporating feedback and making necessary adjustments to enhance the final product.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and design reviews, contributing innovative ideas and solutions to complex design challenges.
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure that designs are feasible and can be produced within budget and time constraints.
- Stay updated on industry advancements and best practices, continuously seeking opportunities to improve your design skills and knowledge.
- Document the design process, including design iterations and decisions made, to maintain a clear record for future reference.
- Assist in the development of marketing materials that effectively showcase new products and their unique design features.
- Work closely with the quality assurance team to address any design-related issues that arise during the production phase.
- Mentor junior designers, providing guidance and support to foster their growth and development within the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in industrial design or a similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design capabilities.
- Proficiency in design software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Adobe Creative Suite, with a solid understanding of 3D modeling and rendering techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about design challenges and user needs.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively present ideas and collaborate with team members.
- A keen eye for detail and a passion for creating innovative and user-centered designs.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials, as well as an understanding of sustainability practices in design.
Nice to have
- Experience in furniture design or related industries, particularly within the context of consumer products.
- Knowledge of user experience (UX) design principles and methodologies.
- Familiarity with prototyping tools and techniques, such as 3D printing or CNC machining.
- Previous experience working in a collaborative team environment, particularly in a fast-paced setting.
- Understanding of market research methodologies and how to apply them to inform design decisions.
