What you'll do
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers and network equipment to ensure high availability and reliability of services.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to enhance system efficiency and security.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to system configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance and facilitate knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with development teams to support application deployment and integration, ensuring that systems meet performance and security standards.
- Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions to safeguard data integrity and availability.
- Conduct regular system audits and vulnerability assessments to identify potential security risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Provide technical support and mentorship to junior IT staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending enhancements to our systems and processes as necessary.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls to ensure compliance with company policies and security protocols.
- Assist in the planning and execution of IT projects, ensuring that they align with organizational goals and are completed on time and within budget.
- Participate in on-call support rotation to address critical system issues outside of regular business hours.
- Engage with vendors and service providers to evaluate and procure hardware and software solutions that meet our operational needs.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration or a related field, with a strong focus on server and network management.
- Proficiency in Windows and Linux server environments, including experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and firewall configurations.
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and hybrid environments is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation of tasks and processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate are a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Nice to have
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) to automate system deployments and configurations.
- Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and their administration.
- Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks to enhance service delivery.

Practical notes
