VP of Commercial Partnerships
Job description
VP of Commercial Partnerships
About the Role
This position is responsible for architecting, leading, and scaling Pomelo's commercial partnerships to drive national expansion across the payer landscape. You will own the commercial payer roadmap, guiding strategic relationships that integrate Pomelo's care model into benefit designs. Unlike transactional sales roles, this position centers on strategic business development. You will lead a team of directors focused on identifying and capitalizing on opportunities within the commercial market. Your primary accountability is your team's performance against growth goals, requiring you to hire individuals who understand employer-sponsored health trends, value-based contracting, and the nuances of the commercial payer market. Success is defined by your ability to build a structure that supports the full partnership lifecycle.

What You Will Do
You will hire, mentor, and lead a team of Strategic Partnerships Directors to achieve and exceed growth goals within the commercial payer market. Developing and operationalizing the commercial go-to-market strategy is a core responsibility, focusing on partnership structures that align with commercial payer incentives and member engagement goals. You will establish clear metrics and accountability for the entire partnership lifecycle, from initial business development outreach and strategic alignment through to final contract execution. Forecasting and reporting on partnership development performance will be essential, acknowledging the complex, relationship-driven nature of commercial contracting. Refining and articulating Pomelo's value proposition is critical to differentiate our model in a competitive landscape. You will support your team in navigating the intricate organizational hierarchies of national and regional commercial plans to accelerate partnership velocity. Monitoring commercial health trends, including shifts in fully-insured versus self-insured dynamics and the evolution of private-sector value-based care, is an ongoing duty. You will represent Pomelo externally at major industry conferences and partnership summits to build long-term relationships with key commercial stakeholders.
Requirements
You bring 15+ years of experience in business development or strategic partnerships, with bonus points for direct experience in commercial payer partnerships and private sector healthcare. A minimum of 4+ years of experience leading high-performing BD or partnership teams is required. You possess a proven track record of building complex, long-term partnerships with large enterprises rather than pursuing transactional sales. You are a leader capable of hiring and retaining talent skilled in navigating the nuanced, high-level negotiations inherent in the commercial sector. Strong accountability for growth KPIs, with a command of partnership metrics and lifecycle management, is essential.
