Bamboohr is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Expeditionary Systems team within the OpAI division. What you'll do
Design and implement core software components for expeditionary systems within the OpAI platform.
Collaborate with product managers and domain experts to translate operational requirements into technical specifications.
Write clean, maintainable code that meets performance and reliability standards for field-deployed systems.
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers on their pull requests.
Debug and resolve issues in production environments, ensuring minimal downtime for critical operational systems.
Contribute to system architecture discussions and actively advocate for best practices in software design.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for APIs, system behaviors, and deployment procedures.
Work with data pipelines and machine learning models to integrate AI capabilities into expeditionary workflows.
Support the testing and validation of software releases before deployment to operational environments.
Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge through technical presentations and written guides.
Identify and address technical debt proactively to keep the codebase healthy and maintainable over time.
Partner with operations teams to understand field needs and translate them into actionable software improvements.
Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and engineering practices to improve team productivity and system quality.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field is required.
Proven experience designing and building reliable software systems in a professional engineering setting.
Strong programming skills in Python or C++ for building scalable systems-level software applications.
Hands-on experience with version control systems and collaborative software development workflows is strongly required.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team-oriented environment with clear written communication skills.
Solid hands-on experience with software development lifecycle processes and comprehensive testing methodologies is expected.
Relevant prior experience with cloud platforms or distributed systems is considered a valuable plus.
Eligibility for security clearance or willingness to obtain clearance for government contracts is necessary.
Comfortable with ambiguity and able to make sound technical decisions in fast-paced environments.
Experience working with government or defense customers is a strong advantage for this position.
Nice to have
Prior hands-on experience with expeditionary or military logistics software systems is very helpful.
Practical working knowledge of modern artificial intelligence frameworks and machine learning model deployment pipelines.
Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes is highly beneficial for this role.
Prior hands-on background in real-time systems or low-latency application development is greatly valued here.
