About the role
This New Business Associate position is instrumental in expanding Plaid's presence across the United Kingdom and the broader European Union by generating high quality new business leads. You will operate in a dynamic capacity, working hand in hand with seasoned Account Executives to systematically identify, qualify, and engage potential financial institutions and innovative fintech companies. The ideal candidate is deeply inquisitive, intensely results-oriented, and thrives within a demanding, rapidly evolving, and target driven environment. You will be responsible for helping these prospective clients clearly understand how Plaid's robust financial data transfer infrastructure can directly support and accelerate their strategic business objectives and product innovation. This role demands a proactive mindset that anticipates market needs and translates them into compelling value propositions for potential partners. You will be a key driver in the initial stages of the sales cycle, laying the foundation for long term growth relationships.

What you'll do
- Systematically arrange high quality meetings that convert into qualified sales opportunities and move prospects further down the pipeline.
- Conduct in depth research on target accounts and develop strategic outreach plans tailored to the specific needs and pain points of each organization.
- Collaborate closely with Account Executives to architect and execute comprehensive account strategies that align with Plaid's overarching market entry goals.
- Diligently track pipeline progression and forecast accuracy using Salesforce and other internal tools to ensure transparent reporting and forecasting.
- Provide essential support in shaping and refining the go-to-market strategy for UK and EU prospects, ensuring messaging resonates with local market conditions.
- Partner with the Marketing team to contribute to the development and optimization of outbound campaign initiatives designed to capture interest.
- Actively participate in broader team initiatives, including the onboarding of new hires and key operational projects that enhance overall team efficiency.
- Identify, evaluate, and cultivate early-stage and dormant opportunities within the database to systematically increase the size and quality of the sales pipeline.
- Serve as the initial point of contact and primary researcher, qualifying inbound inquiries and outbound interest to filter high value prospects.
- Analyze market trends and competitive landscapes to provide feedback that informs positioning and product messaging for the financial technology sector.
- Leverage data and insights to prioritize accounts and sequence outreach efforts for maximum impact and efficiency.
- Develop a deep understanding of Plaid's product suite to articulate the specific benefits and technical advantages to potential clients.
- Build strong internal relationships with Product, Engineering, and Sales leadership to align on evolving go to market priorities.
- Proactively identify blockers in the sales cycle and recommend actionable solutions in collaboration with cross functional teams.
Requirements
- Possesses strong communication abilities, both written and verbal, and demonstrates a quick grasp of complex financial and technical concepts.
- Shows undeniable drive, perseverance, and a proactive approach to problem solving, especially when faced with ambiguous or challenging situations.
- Brings some prior experience in a client facing or commercial role, such as sales, customer success, partnerships, or consulting, with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
- Is thoroughly comfortable working in an environment with high ownership, autonomy, and significant expectations for individual performance and accountability.
- Has a collaborative mindset, actively listens to colleagues, and shows a genuine eagerness to learn from experienced professionals across the organization.
