What you'll do
- Lead and supervise a team of millwrights, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards during all maintenance and repair activities.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules for machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency.
- Oversee the installation of new machinery, ensuring that all equipment is set up according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and machinery to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot mechanical problems and devise effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections to support compliance and operational reporting.
- Train and mentor millwright staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Manage inventory levels of tools, parts, and supplies necessary for maintenance operations, ensuring availability while controlling costs.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance services and equipment repairs.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
- Participate in safety audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement safety improvements.
- Prepare and manage budgets related to maintenance operations, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in millwright work, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems commonly found in industrial settings.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery and equipment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in maintenance and repair operations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in using maintenance management software and tools for tracking work orders and inventory.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel as needed for training or project support.
- Certification in millwright or related fields is preferred but not mandatory.
Nice to have
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment, particularly in the food processing or packaging industries.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and practices.
- Previous experience with project management and budgeting in a maintenance context.
- Knowledge of electrical systems and their integration with mechanical systems.
- Certification in safety management or OSHA training.
