Key facts
What you'll do
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits at various job sites to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Develop and implement safety training programs for employees and subcontractors, ensuring they are well-versed in safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with project managers and team leaders to identify potential safety hazards and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, and training sessions, ensuring all documentation is up to date and easily accessible.
- Act as a liaison between management and field personnel regarding safety concerns, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Investigate accidents and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend improvements to prevent future occurrences.
- Stay current with industry regulations and best practices related to workplace safety, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Facilitate safety meetings and workshops to promote awareness and engagement among team members regarding safety practices.
- Provide on-site support during high-risk activities, offering real-time guidance and intervention when necessary.
- Assist in the development of safety policies and procedures, ensuring they align with Picateam's operational goals and industry standards.
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure that all team members are equipped with the necessary safety gear.
- Foster a culture of safety by encouraging open communication and feedback from team members regarding safety practices and concerns.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety role, preferably within the construction or industrial sectors.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards applicable to the industry.
- Proven ability to conduct safety audits and risk assessments effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey safety information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in high-pressure situations.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR; additional safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-hour) are highly desirable.
- Proficient in using safety management software and tools for reporting and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong leadership qualities.
Nice to have
- Experience in developing and delivering safety training programs.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainability practices.
- Previous experience in a field safety role within a similar industry.
- Bilingual capabilities, particularly in Spanish, are a plus.
