PERK is looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join their engineering team in Barcelona. This role focuses on building and maintaining an intelligent platform dedicated to travel and expense management. As a key member of the team, you will have full ownership of features, from understanding customer needs and translating them into technical solutions to deploying those features and measuring their impact. What you'll do

• Convert complex business objectives into clear, actionable technical roadmaps, ensuring alignment with company goals and customer needs.
• Identify and mitigate project risks early through prototyping and iterative development, maintaining a focus on delivering value efficiently.
• Design and develop scalable, maintainable, and high-performance systems, including backend architectures and data models, considering fault isolation and system resilience.
• Establish and uphold engineering standards, including continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), comprehensive testing strategies, and coding best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Develop frontend architectural patterns that address state management, performance optimization, and comprehensive testing, ensuring a seamless user experience.
• Engineer sophisticated backend solutions, including API versioning, caching strategies, data migrations, and integration with external services, to support platform growth and stability.
• Lead observability initiatives by defining Service Level Objectives (SLOs), setting up monitoring and alerting systems, and managing incident response processes to ensure platform reliability.
• Oversee operational security practices, including secrets management, dependency risk assessment, and security hygiene, to protect production environments from vulnerabilities.
• Mentor less experienced engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Lead design reviews, contribute to technical decision-making, and influence product development with innovative ideas and insights.
• Coordinate deliverables across multiple teams, ensuring alignment and resolving technical blockers that may impede progress.
• Contribute to shaping the overall product vision, participating in quarterly planning, and defining long-term strategic initiatives.
• Architect major platform changes, creating detailed design documents, and maintaining high technical quality standards throughout the development lifecycle.
• Facilitate cross-squad collaboration by communicating complex technical ideas clearly and effectively, ensuring organizational alignment on key initiatives.
• Support team growth through mentorship, providing constructive feedback, and modeling best engineering practices to foster a high-performing engineering culture.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand evolving business needs and translate them into technical solutions that deliver measurable impact.

Requirements

• Proven experience translating complex business goals into effective technical roadmaps and architectures.
• Demonstrated ability to design scalable, evolvable systems and data models that meet performance and reliability standards.
• Strong expertise in establishing and maintaining engineering standards, including CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and coding best practices.
• Experience in defining and implementing frontend architectural patterns that enhance performance and maintainability.
• Background in engineering sophisticated backend solutions, including API development, data management, and system integrations.
• Leadership in observability and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, including defining SLOs, monitoring, and incident management.
• Oversight of operational security, including secrets management, dependency risk mitigation, and security hygiene.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, influence product roadmaps, and lead technical initiatives.
• Experience coordinating deliverables across multiple teams, managing dependencies, and aligning stakeholders.
• Strong interest and familiarity with modern AI-augmented workflows, including agentic workflows and AI-powered code reviews.
• Ability to commute to the Barcelona office three days a week without difficulty.
• Fluency in English, with a resume submitted in English.

• Experience working with Go programming language, especially in backend development.
