What you'll do
- Lead a team of systems administrators, providing guidance and mentorship to enhance their skills and performance.
- Design, implement, and manage server and network infrastructure to ensure high availability and reliability of services.
- Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively address issues to optimize resource utilization.
- Develop and enforce security policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive data and maintain compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess their IT requirements and deliver tailored solutions that meet their needs.
- Manage system backups, disaster recovery plans, and ensure data integrity through regular testing and validation.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools that can improve system efficiency and effectiveness.
- Document system configurations, processes, and procedures to maintain a comprehensive knowledge base for the team.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for complex system issues escalated from junior staff.
- Conduct regular training sessions for team members to keep them updated on the latest technologies and best practices.
- Participate in capacity planning and budgeting for IT infrastructure to align with the company's growth objectives.
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure Pemcco remains competitive in the market.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proficiency in managing Windows and Linux server environments, including Active Directory and virtualization technologies.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
- Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation of routine tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
Nice to have
- Certifications such as MCSE, CCNA, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect are a plus.
- Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
- Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server) and backup solutions.
- Familiarity with ITIL or other service management frameworks.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is advantageous.
