As Principal Product Manager, Mobile, you will be responsible for owning the vision, architecture, and execution of PayJoy's mobile applications. You will work closely with engineering leadership and the executive team to develop and implement strategies that enhance user engagement, expand platform capabilities, and support the company's growth objectives. What you'll do
- Develop and articulate the multi-year product strategy for PayJoy's App platform, focusing on personalization, cross-sell opportunities, and platform expansion.
- Identify opportunities to extend the platform beyond traditional loan servicing, including integrating e-commerce, rewards and benefits ecosystems, and engagement tools to increase customer value and retention.
- Create and execute strategies for embedding financial education within the app, tailored to a customer base with low financial literacy, to promote responsible borrowing and financial literacy.
- Own the end-to-end product delivery process, from discovery, prioritization, and development to launch and post-launch iterations across all app surfaces and platforms.
- Define and enforce platform-level standards for navigation, architecture, performance, and user experience to ensure consistency and high quality across all applications.
- Establish localization standards for different countries to ensure regulatory compliance and a seamless user experience in diverse markets.
- Drive PayJoy's app store presence by managing store optimization, ratings, reviews, and release strategies on Google Play and Apple App Store to maximize visibility and downloads.
- Partner closely with engineering leadership to align on architecture decisions, implement native mobile best practices, and scale platform capacity to support growth.
- Track and improve key business KPIs such as cross-sell rates, customer engagement metrics, and reduction in customer experience contacts per active user.
- Ensure platform investments and development efforts directly support and accelerate core revenue streams.
- Influence and align with senior stakeholders across product, engineering, design, data, risk, and operations teams to prioritize initiatives, balance trade-offs, and drive platform roadmap execution.
- Lead efforts to improve app performance, stability, and security, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate on defining instrumentation events, phased rollout plans, and measurement frameworks to assess feature success and inform future iterations.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mobile product management to continuously innovate and improve PayJoy's app offerings.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of product management experience, with at least 5 years in senior or staff-level roles managing consumer mobile apps.
- Proven track record of building and scaling mobile applications for consumers, especially at companies experiencing platform inflection points.
- Deep expertise in Android and/or iOS product development, including navigation patterns, mobile architecture, app performance optimization, and app store operations.
- Strong background in fintech, consumer financial services, or similarly regulated, data-intensive domains, with an understanding of compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous strategic goals into clear, actionable roadmaps, with sharp prioritization and measurable outcomes.
- Experience defining instrumentation events, executing phased rollouts, and measuring key metrics to evaluate product success.
- Exceptional cross-functional influencing skills, capable of collaborating effectively with engineering, design, data, risk, and operations teams without relying on formal authority.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, to communicate effectively with global teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, balancing short-term deliverables with long-term strategic goals.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in data-driven decision making and understanding of product analytics tools.
Nice to have
- Experience working on multi-app or platform-level product architecture, particularly in secured/unsecured credit or credit lifecycle products.
- Background working in emerging markets, LATAM, or with underbanked consumer segments, understanding their unique needs and regulatory environments.
- Hands-on experience with app store optimization, growth loops, engagement mechanics, and retention strategies to drive user acquisition and retention.
- Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese, enabling better localization and customer engagement in diverse markets.
- Knowledge of SQL or similar data querying languages to self-serve product insights from data sources.
- Familiarity with AI, machine learning, or data science applications relevant to mobile financial products.
