About the role

Bamboohr is seeking a dynamic and motivated Carbon Sales Trader to join our team in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland. As a key player in our sales department, you will be responsible for facilitating the trading of carbon credits and other environmental commodities. What you'll do

• Develop and maintain relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions in carbon trading.
• Execute trades in carbon credits and other environmental products, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and market standards.
• Analyze market trends and data to inform trading strategies and identify new business opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including risk management and compliance, to ensure seamless execution of trades.
• Prepare and present market reports to clients, showcasing insights and forecasts that aid in their decision-making processes.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing with clients, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements that align with market conditions.
• Monitor and manage trading positions, assessing risk and making informed decisions to optimize profitability.
• Participate in industry events and conferences to represent Bamboohr and expand your professional network within the carbon trading community.
• Stay updated on legislative changes and market developments that impact carbon trading, adapting strategies accordingly.
• Provide training and support to junior team members, sharing knowledge and best practices in carbon trading.
• Work closely with the marketing team to develop promotional materials and campaigns that highlight Bamboohr's offerings in the carbon market.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of trading processes and systems, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, environmental science, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in sales or trading, preferably within the carbon market or related environmental sectors.
• Strong understanding of carbon markets, including regulatory frameworks and trading mechanisms.
• Proven track record of successfully managing client relationships and achieving sales targets.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and market trends.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively.
• Proficiency in trading platforms and financial software relevant to carbon trading.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Nice to have

• Experience with renewable energy markets or environmental commodities beyond carbon credits.
• Familiarity with international carbon trading standards and protocols, such as the Paris Agreement.
• Existing network of contacts within the carbon trading community or related industries.
• Additional language proficiency, particularly in Dutch or German, is a plus.
• Previous experience in a startup or fast-paced environment is advantageous.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and trading software.
• Familiarity with data analysis tools and platforms used in financial trading.
• Strong understanding of risk management principles and practices in trading environments.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements related to carbon trading.
