What you'll do
Develop and maintain operational forecasting models that support business planning and decision-making across Oscar Health.
Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that affect operational performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance, operations, and data science to align forecasting outputs with business goals.
Prepare regular reports and dashboards that communicate forecast results clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
Monitor forecast accuracy over time and refine methodologies to improve predictive performance and reliability.
Support the design and implementation of new forecasting tools, templates, and automation workflows.
Gather input from business units to understand assumptions and incorporate them into forecast models.
Conduct ad hoc analyses to answer specific business questions and support short-term and long-term strategic initiatives.
Document all forecasting processes, assumptions, and methodologies to ensure reproducibility and transparency for future reference.
Participate in quarterly and annual planning cycles by providing quantitative inputs and running scenario analyses.
Coordinate with external partners and vendors when forecast inputs require third-party data or specialized expertise.
Present forecast results and recommendations to senior leadership during business reviews and planning meetings.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related discipline.
One to three years of experience in a forecasting, analytics, or operational planning role.
Proficiency in spreadsheet tools such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for data manipulation and analysis.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and draw actionable conclusions.
Familiarity with SQL or a similar query language for working with structured databases and writing queries.
Demonstrated ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences in a clear and concise manner.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities and shifting deadlines.
Attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving, data validation, and quality assurance.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting established deadlines consistently.
Comfortable working with large volumes of data and transitioning between different analytical tools and platforms.
Nice to have
Experience with Python or R for statistical modeling, data analysis, and automation of repetitive tasks.
Familiarity with visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker for building interactive and shareable dashboards.
Background in healthcare, insurance, or a related industry that involves operational or financial forecasting.
Knowledge of time series analysis or machine learning techniques that can enhance predictive modeling capabilities.
Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift for data warehousing.
Prior experience presenting findings to cross-functional stakeholders in a business setting.
