Staff Product Designer
Job description
About the role
Staff Product Designer
OpenSea serves as the entry point for web3's next evolution, where NFTs, fungible tokens, and emerging digital assets intersect to form open, user-owned economies. As a foundational participant in the crypto sector, we are developing infrastructure that serves millions of users and establishes new benchmarks for how digital value is discovered and exchanged. Our team is small but mighty: hands-on, fast-moving, and deeply committed to meaningful delivery. We operate as a remote-first team by design, use AI by default, and are guided by values centered on ownership, trust, and progress. At OpenSea, you will be challenged to grow rapidly while being supported by a talent-dense group actively shaping the future of crypto.
We are seeking a highly skilled, creative, and self-motivated Staff Product Designer to join our compact design team. In this capacity, you will help define how people discover, trade, and interact with digital assets-working in partnership with designers and engineers to bring clarity and craftsmanship to complex challenges. Design plays a pivotal role in shaping product strategy and direction, making this role ideal for individuals who combine strong product thinking with hands-on design execution. If you are energized by ownership, collaboration, and the opportunity to design for a user base in the millions within a rapidly evolving environment, we invite you to apply.
What you'll do
- Lead design initiatives from concept to launch, partnering with engineers and designers to define and deliver high-quality user experiences.
- Translate design thinking into our product development workflow, ensuring solutions address real user problems with consistency and simplicity.
- Refine open-ended product concepts into actionable design directions through research, prototyping, and iterative testing.
- Build end-to-end experiences that balance user needs, technical feasibility, and business objectives.
- Contribute to and advance our design system to improve quality, consistency, and efficiency across all OpenSea interfaces.
- Clearly communicate design rationale to align cross-functional teams around shared goals.
- Help cultivate the design culture at OpenSea by modeling strong craftsmanship, collaboration, and curiosity.
Requirements
- 7+ years of product design experience across consumer and platform-facing products.
- Demonstrated ability to own complex, ambiguous problem areas and transform them into elegant, intuitive solutions.
- Strong product sense, comfortable with strategic thinking and operating without the structure of a large product organization.
- Excellent interaction and visual design skills, with a portfolio that highlights systems thinking and attention to detail.
- Experience collaborating closely with engineers to deliver high-quality, technically informed designs.
- Breadth across UI, UX, motion, and interaction, with deep skills in one or two areas and comfort exploring others.
- Exceptional communication and storytelling abilities to influence cross-functional partners and align objectives.
- Experience with emerging technologies such as Web3, fintech, or AI-preferred but not required.
Compensation and Location
The base salary for this full-time position in the United States ranges between $175,000 and $275,000, varying by role level and qualifications. Compensation for international positions will differ to reflect local market conditions. Benefits include health coverage, flexible time off, parental leave, mental health support, company holidays, retirement plans, and home office stipends.
If you do not meet every criterion but are still interested in the role, please apply. Not everyone checks every box, and we are looking for someone excited to join the team.
