About the role
You will serve as the primary technical advisor for Global Affairs partnerships, helping organizations identify and deploy high-impact AI use cases that align with public sector needs. You will guide partners from discovery through implementation, moving beyond pilots to real-world, sustainable adoption that delivers measurable outcomes. You will design demonstrations, prototypes, and proof-of-concepts tailored to partner missions and operational realities, ensuring solutions are practical and scalable. You will translate complex technical concepts into accessible guidance for non-technical audiences, bridging the gap between advanced AI capabilities and public sector decision-makers. You will support governments, nonprofits, educational institutions, workforce organizations, and small businesses in adopting OpenAI products responsibly and effectively. You will conduct workshops, office hours, and implementation sessions with external stakeholders to build capacity and foster independent problem-solving. You will develop educational content, deployment playbooks, best practices, and reusable resources that can be leveraged across multiple engagements. You will identify opportunities to expand partner impact through additional OpenAI products and programs, ensuring the long-term value of each collaboration.

What you'll do
- Lead the technical discovery phase for new government and nonprofit partnerships, clarifying requirements and constraints.
- Architect and deploy end-to-end AI solutions that address mission-critical needs in policy, service delivery, and public engagement.
- Translate ambiguous stakeholder requests into well-defined technical scopes that engineering teams can execute against.
- Build and iterate interactive prototypes that demonstrate the tangible value of generative AI for specific public sector workflows.
- Partner with policy experts to ensure that deployed solutions adhere to legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.
- Create reusable technical documentation and deployment guides tailored to non-technical government audiences.
- Conduct hands-on training sessions that enable partner staff to maintain and extend AI capabilities independently.
- Monitor deployment performance and propose optimizations that improve reliability, cost-efficiency, and user satisfaction.
- Act as a technical liaison between OpenAI product teams and external stakeholders to align roadmaps and expectations.
- Identify and evaluate emerging use cases where AI can unlock new capabilities for public service and global development.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate partner feedback into future product iterations and feature development.
- Drive the adoption of responsible AI practices, including transparency, fairness, and data protection considerations.
- Lead proof-of-concept evaluations, measuring success against predefined metrics and stakeholder objectives.
- Represent the Global Affairs team in external forums, ensuring that deployment experiences inform OpenAI's broader strategy.
Requirements
- Have 7+ years of technical consulting (or equivalent) experience.
- Are proficient in Python and Javascript.
- Built and/or delivered prototypes on top of our API platform.
- Led complex technical projects and programs with many stakeholders.
- Can proactively identify opportunities for maximizing our stakeholder value through leveraging the OpenAI API.
- Own problems end-to-end, and are willing to pick up whatever knowledge you're missing to get the job done to ensure both your team and our stakeholders succeed.
- Have a humble attitude and an eagerness to help others with empathy.
- Operate with high horsepower, are adept at frequent context switching and working on multiple projects at once with expansive ownership, and ruthlessly prioritize.
- Thrive in dynamic environments and can navigate ambiguity with ease.
