About the role
You will own the end-to-end product lifecycle for our Commercial and Industrial battery energy storage and small commercial solar initiatives, translating complex market dynamics into clear product strategy. You will act as the primary product leader responsible for scaling our footprint in the Commercial & Industrial solar and energy storage market, ensuring that our Battery Energy Storage products and Small Commercial segment meet evolving customer demands. You will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to define, validate, and launch solutions that drive sustainable growth and long-term value. Your work will focus on identifying systemic opportunities, de-risking new concepts, and aligning product development with overarching business objectives. You will be the strategic voice for the Commercial business line, balancing technical feasibility with market desirability and operational viability. This role demands comfort with ambiguity and the ability to lead in a fast-paced, data-informed environment. You will be instrumental in shaping the product narrative that supports our mission of building a more sustainable future for the planet.

What you'll do
Conduct in-depth market research and customer discovery to uncover latent needs, competitive gaps, and emerging trends within the Commercial & Industrial solar and energy storage landscape.
Develop and maintain comprehensive product requirement documents, business cases, and concept documentation that clearly articulate value propositions, success metrics, and implementation approaches.
Lead cross-functional collaboration with engineering, sales, operations, and finance to align on product vision, scope, and go-to-market strategies for Commercial offerings.
Define and own key performance indicators, establishing baseline metrics and tracking progress to evaluate product-market fit and commercial viability over time.
Synthesize complex data from multiple sources into actionable insights, creating clear narratives and visual aids for executive stakeholders and internal teams.
Partner with the Director of Business Product to shape the strategic roadmap for the Commercial business line, ensuring alignment with company-wide goals and market opportunities.
Own Monthly Business Reviews, tracking the status and progress of Commercial Business Line health, identifying risks, and recommending corrective actions as needed.
Champion a systems-thinking approach, evaluating how product decisions impact the broader customer journey, operational processes, and financial outcomes.
Continuously validate product assumptions through experimentation, feedback loops, and iterative improvements to maximize learning and minimize waste.
Serve as a thought partner for sales and customer success teams, equipping them with tools, frameworks, and data to effectively engage Commercial clients.
Maintain a rigorous prioritization framework, balancing short-term tactical needs with long-term strategic objectives under conditions of uncertainty.
Act as the central liaison for Commercial product inquiries, ensuring consistent messaging and a cohesive understanding of product capabilities across the organization.
Contribute to the development of scalable product processes and best practices that can be replicated as the Commercial business line grows.
Leverage industry benchmarks and competitive intelligence to inform positioning, feature development, and differentiation strategies.
Requirements
You must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, demonstrating a solid foundation in business, engineering, or a related discipline.
You must have at least 8 years of progressive experience in product management, business analysis, or a closely related role, with a track record of delivering complex products or solutions.
You must have substantial experience in the Commercial & Industrial energy, solar, or energy storage sectors, with a deep understanding of customer workflows and operational realities.
You must be highly proficient in data analysis and comfortable using quantitative methods to validate assumptions, measure outcomes, and drive evidence-based decisions.
You must have a proven ability to translate ambiguous problems into structured hypotheses and develop experiments to test those hypotheses effectively.
You must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of influencing senior stakeholders and articulating complex concepts with clarity and precision.
You must be comfortable working autonomously in a remote setting, managing your time and priorities effectively without direct supervision.
You must be prepared to work on a short-term contract basis for up to four months to support the temporary coverage of a critical product role.
You must have a strong understanding of product lifecycle management, from ideation through launch, iteration, and eventual sunsetting or scaling.
You must exhibit sound judgment and the ability to make timely decisions in the absence of complete information, balancing risk and opportunity.
You must be willing to collaborate across diverse teams, aligning stakeholders with varying priorities, incentives, and levels of expertise.
You must have experience translating customer needs into product requirements that balance technical constraints with business goals.
You must be detail-oriented and organized, capable of managing multiple initiatives and maintaining clarity on dependencies and timelines.

Nice to have
Experience with battery energy storage systems and the specific technical and regulatory considerations of energy storage products.
Background working with small commercial or distributed energy customers, including an understanding of site assessments and interconnection processes.
Familiarity with Omnidian's specific products, services, and customer workflows within the distributed solar and energy storage space.
Prior experience in a certified B Corp or mission-driven organization, aligning product decisions with environmental and social impact goals.
Experience supporting business line health through Monthly Business Reviews, including variance analysis, trend identification, and action planning.
Practical notes
This is a short-term contract role lasting up to four months.
The position is fully remote and open to candidates located within the United States.
Travel is not required for this role.

The engagement is designed to provide temporary coverage while the current Product Manager is on leave.
