You will play a key role in crafting the technology that enables our members to achieve lasting health improvements.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to develop backend systems that support our member-facing mobile applications and provider-facing web tools.
- Produce high-quality code for web applications, ensuring system stability through code reviews and comprehensive testing, while adhering to architectural and coding best practices.
- Dedicate a significant portion of your time to coding, providing technical leadership and mentorship to less experienced engineers by addressing complex programming and design challenges.
- Integrate AI tools into various stages of the software development process.
- Lead major projects by identifying infrastructure and architectural requirements and proposing novel AI-driven solutions.
- Work with AI specialists to incorporate AI capabilities into our existing systems.
- Influence project and technology roadmaps by advocating for and adopting new technological advancements.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to address and resolve production reliability issues.
Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years of experience writing well-documented, tested, and efficient code.
- Deep experience with Ruby on Rails.
- Proficiency with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Proven ability in designing APIs that are scalable, maintainable, and secure.
- Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI (GenAI) best practices.
- Experience with AI development tools like Cursor or Copilot.
- Familiarity with cloud environments, particularly AWS, and deployment tools such as Kubernetes and Docker.
- Understanding of logging, monitoring, and telemetry principles.
- Knowledge of DevOps concepts.
- A strong desire to learn new technologies, languages, and methodologies.
- A problem-solving mindset that prioritizes solutions over being right.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and teamwork skills.

Practical notes
- Salary ranges: Zone 1: $179,400 - $224,300; Zone 2: $171,600 - $214,500; Zone 3: $156,000 - $195,000. Compensation will be determined by zone, candidate experience, and other factors.
