About the role
Omada Health is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our mission of expanding cardiometabolic care and physical activity offerings. In this role, you will own significant technical decisions that shape the future of new member and care team experiences. You will be responsible for building the foundational systems that enable future growth in this strategic area. The position requires broad technical judgment and collaboration across product, clinical, and engineering teams. You will guide implementation using modern development tools to understand challenges rapidly. The role involves establishing high standards for code quality, scalability, and test coverage. You will also mentor other engineers and facilitate rapid, reliable delivery of new features.

What you'll do
Collaborate with product, clinical, and other teams to bring new features to life through coordinated implementation.
Take ownership of the architecture and technical strategy for new user-facing features from initial concept to production deployment.
Apply broad technical judgment across various languages and systems, using modern development tools to quickly understand challenges and guide implementation decisions.
Establish and enforce high standards for code quality, ensuring all code is clean, well-tested, scalable, and maintainable over time.
Mentor other engineers by providing technical direction, code review, and architectural guidance to facilitate rapid and reliable delivery.
Define technical roadmaps for the next 6-12 months, identifying high-impact work and prioritizing initiatives accordingly.
Design and implement scalable, maintainable, and secure APIs that serve both member and care team applications effectively.
Leverage experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL to optimize data models, queries, and indexing strategies.
Utilize continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to automate testing, deployment, and monitoring of software releases.
Demonstrate familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI principles to explore innovative solutions for complex problems.
Implement infrastructure as code and deployment strategies using tools like Docker and Kubernetes within cloud environments.
Contribute to the development of logging, monitoring, and telemetry systems to improve observability and proactive issue detection.
Promote a culture of learning by exploring new tools, languages, and approaches to solve evolving business and technical challenges.
Communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively through strong verbal and written communication with cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
Bring over 10 years of experience writing clear, tested, and efficient code that adheres to best practices and standards.
Demonstrate proficiency in at least one modern backend language, with the ability to work across the full stack to deliver the best possible solution.
Possess hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails for building web applications and services.
Have experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including schema design and query optimization.
Show experience designing APIs that are scalable, maintainable, secure, and well-documented for diverse consumers.
Have experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure reliable and fast release cycles.
Show familiarity with Large Language Models (LLLs) and Generative AI principles and their practical applications.
Demonstrate the ability to use AI-assisted development workflows to efficiently create reliable product features from initial concepts to production.
Have familiarity with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, and deployment tools like Docker and Kubernetes for containerized applications.
Understand logging, monitoring, and telemetry systems to ensure system health and performance are effectively tracked.
Have a solid understanding of DevOps concepts to bridge development and operations for streamlined workflows.
Maintain a strong desire to learn new tools, languages, and approaches to keep skills current and relevant.
Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
