What you'll do

• Develop, improve, and sustain backend services and APIs using Go (Golang) to enhance the functionality of healthcare marketplace platforms.
• Build, test, and optimize ETL pipelines utilizing Python for data cleaning, transformation, and movement within healthcare data ecosystems.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs supported by PostgreSQL databases, ensuring they are reliable, scalable, and backward compatible with existing systems.
• Leverage AWS cloud services such as S3 for storage, Lambda for serverless functions, Step Functions for orchestrating workflows, and Glue for data cataloging and ETL processes to support data pipelines.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code with a focus on performance, security, and long-term sustainability.
• Support ongoing operations, troubleshoot issues, and perform maintenance on existing digital products while contributing to the development of new features.
• Participate actively in code reviews, ensuring adherence to engineering standards, best practices, and security protocols.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, data engineers, and security specialists to understand requirements and deliver scalable backend solutions.
• Assist in diagnosing and resolving backend system issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability.
• Document backend architecture, API specifications, and data workflows to facilitate team knowledge sharing and onboarding.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting enhancements to existing systems and processes.
• Engage in Agile development practices, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, to ensure timely delivery of features.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and federal security standards relevant to healthcare data and cloud infrastructure.

Requirements

• Proven experience developing backend services and APIs using Go (Golang).
• Strong proficiency in Python, especially for data manipulation, cleaning, and ETL pipeline development.
• Familiarity with data processing libraries such as Pandas and/or PySpark is advantageous.
• Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR or similar is a plus.
• Solid understanding of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, and proficiency in SQL for data querying and management.
• Hands-on experience working with AWS services including S3, Lambda, Step Functions, and Glue for data workflows and cloud infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and deploy REST APIs in production environments.
• Understanding of federal security and compliance standards, including data privacy and security protocols, is beneficial.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, collaborating with a distributed team in an Agile setting.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate code reviews, documentation, and cross-team collaboration.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in backend development, with a focus on cloud-based services and APIs.
• Experience working on healthcare or government projects is a plus but not mandatory.

Nice to have

• Prior experience working on federal healthcare projects or with healthcare data standards such as FHIR.
• Familiarity with data privacy and security standards specific to healthcare, such as HIPAA.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes to facilitate deployment and scaling.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and DevOps practices to streamline development workflows.
• Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in developer communities.
• Understanding of security best practices for cloud infrastructure and data handling.

Skills & tools

Practical notes

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Due to federal contract stipulations, some roles may require U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal background investigation or security clearance.

This position is on-site at our remote location, meaning you will work remotely but within the context of the company's operational environment. You will be expected to participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and code reviews via digital communication tools.

Candidates should hold at least a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $135,000, with actual offers based on experience, qualifications, and job category.
