Business Development Leader
Job description
About the role
You will own the end-to-end performance of a high-activity outbound BDR team, setting the operational rhythm and coaching standards that scale the pipeline into 2027. You will build deep trust with each BDR, the VP Marketing & Growth, and cross-functional partners in marketing, sales, and operations to align on execution. You will carry a personal outbound pipeline quota while simultaneously elevating the team's activity, conversion, and data quality standards. You will establish cadence through 1:1s, call reviews, and role plays, delivering in-the-moment coaching that drives measurable improvement. You will surface problems with a proposed fix attached, demonstrating bias for action rather than escalation. You will hold the line on pipeline quality by tightening qualification criteria and messaging based on downstream conversion signals. You will work closely with Sales, Marketing, and RevOps on lead flow, tooling, and handoff quality, pushing back where necessary to protect the funnel. You will be present in the London office to set the tempo and energy for the team, with a general expectation of 3 days a week and flexibility aligned with the hybrid model.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Build trust and strong working relationships with your BDRs, VP Marketing & Growth, and cross-functional partners across marketing, sales, and operations.
- Own the day-to-day performance rhythm for the team, monitoring and improving key metrics such as activities, meetings, conversion rates, SLA adherence, and data cleanliness to drive the team to success.
- Leading from the front: carrying a personal pipeline-generation quota alongside your team's target so you're setting the standard, not just enforcing it.
- Establish cadence: regular 1:1s, call and email reviews, and role plays to provide in-the-moment coaching and feedback.
- Coaching BDRs individually - improving call technique, messaging, and objection handling. Drive consistent performance by identifying issues early, holding clear and constructive conversations, and implementing individualised improvement plans.
- Bringing solutions before you're asked - spotting a tooling gap, a process blocker, or a bad trend, and showing up with a fix, not just the problem.
- Holding the line on pipeline quality, not just volume - tightening qualification criteria and messaging based on what actually converts downstream.
- Working closely with Sales, Marketing, and RevOps on lead flow, tooling, and handoff quality, and pushing back where needed.
- Being present in the office setting the tempo and energy for the team (general expectation is 3 days a week - with flexibility).
Requirements
You have proven experience as a BDR/SDR Team Lead (or a senior BDR promoted into leadership) inside a high-velocity B2B SaaS environment, ideally with an outbound-heavy, metrics-driven motion. You have a track record of personally driving a team to consistently hit or exceed activity and pipeline targets, and you can quantify this rather than only describe it. You have real experience holding a team accountable to non-negotiable activity standards, including the harder conversations that come with it. You demonstrate a bias for surfacing problems with a proposed fix attached, rather than escalating and waiting for direction. You are comfortable carrying a personal quota alongside managing a team's performance. Restaurant or hospitality sector experience is a plus, but we care more about growth-stage, high-activity B2B SaaS DNA than industry background.
Practical notes
Our office is in London, United Kingdom, and operates under a hybrid model that allows up to 3 days a week in the office with flexibility. This is a full-time role, and we expect availability during standard business hours to support your team and partners. As we grow rapidly, we may require responsiveness aligned with key business milestones. You will be required to work from the London office to set the tempo and energy for the team, while benefiting from our flexible work policy for the remainder of your time.
