As part of this vision, we are seeking a Digital IC Design Engineer Intern to join our Brain Interfaces Soc Department. This team is dedicated to developing chip architecture and silicon implementations for high-bandwidth brain-computer interfaces, pushing the boundaries of what is achievable in the field.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Engage in micro-architecture design and RTL implementation for various low-power components, including digital signal processors, general-purpose hardware accelerators, graphics processing units, and radio MAC/PHY interfaces.
- Collaborate with firmware engineers to design and implement hardware/software interfaces that enhance system functionality.
- Optimize application-specific architectures by conducting complex system modeling for energy and performance benchmarks, analyzing workloads, and making architecture-level design trade-offs.
- Perform verification of complex system-on-chip designs, including behavioral level modeling, model equivalence checks, and FPGA emulation.
- Conduct analog mixed-signal co-simulation and ensure design for testability in your projects.
- Work closely with silicon validation engineers during silicon bring-up tests to ensure successful integration and functionality of the designs.
- Participate in workload analysis and modeling to balance energy efficiency and performance while considering manufacturing process variations.
- Contribute to the development of innovative solutions that enhance the energy efficiency and scalability of our wireless brain-computer interfaces.
Requirements
- A strong background in electrical engineering, computer science, or computer engineering, demonstrating exceptional ability in the field.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in digital design, showcasing a solid understanding of the principles and practices involved.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as SystemVerilog, C/C++, and Python, essential for the role.
- Experience with complex digital systems, covering aspects from architecture to microarchitecture and RTL, utilizing industry-standard tools.
- Familiarity with designing digital signal processing pipelines, from algorithm development to RTL implementation.
- A proactive and analytical mindset, with a passion for tackling new challenges in chip design.
Nice to have
- Experience in optimizing architectures with process technology customization, enhancing performance and efficiency.
- Background in verifying complex digital systems using industry-standard verification tools.
- Knowledge of physical design processes for complex digital systems, contributing to overall design integrity.
- Experience in testing and debugging digital system-on-a-chip designs, ensuring reliability and functionality.
- Familiarity with functional modeling and logic verification using SystemVerilog, SystemC/C++, or UVM methodologies.
- Experience in automating tool flows to streamline design processes and improve efficiency.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in SystemVerilog, C/C++, and Python for design and verification tasks.
- Familiarity with industry-standard tools for digital design, verification, and physical design processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience with embedded design and knowledge of processor instruction set architecture design is a plus.

- The anticipated hourly wage for this internship position is $35 per hour.
