Legal Counsel
Job description
About the role
The role translates complex business operations into compliant legal structures. Legal guidance navigates regulations to support global expansion and governance.
Sales roles connect a company's product with the customers who need it. Representatives research accounts, run demos, handle objections, and close deals. The work is quota driven and moves quickly. Strong sellers combine listening skills with product knowledge and steady follow through. Sales roles reward consistent activity and honest qualification of deals. Most companies use a defined sales process, and reps are trained on it before being left on their own.
Key facts
What you'll do
Contracts for technology licensing, professional services, and strategic partnerships are drafted, reviewed, analyzed, and negotiated to define terms and manage risk. Documents are refined to support sales teams, revenue organizations, and customers while data processing addenda are implemented for regulatory alignment.
Policies and procedures are created to standardize contract management and administration practices for consistent execution across teams.
General corporate legal matters are handled to advise SaaS businesses on relevant issues and governance.
Contract negotiations are led to ensure adherence to Nanonets policies, applicable law, and industry standards for enforceability. Compliance programs are developed and executed to satisfy all legal and regulatory requirements through defined processes.
Requirements
Experience of 5 to 8 years is required, including substantial work with enterprise software and SaaS agreements, software licensing, strategic partnerships, complex commercial contracts, and related drafting.
Knowledge of data privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and emerging laws in other jurisdictions must be demonstrated to assess impact on operations.
Practical, decisive guidance that balances business objectives with legal risk is delivered to stakeholders across functions.
Corporate generalist experience in commercial contracts, intellectual property protection and enforcement, dispute resolution, licensing, and general corporate governance is necessary.
Complex legal issues are distilled into clear business language to enable understanding and problem solving during customer negotiations.
A collaborative approach is used when partnering with cross-functional teams to align on objectives and constraints.
Flexibility and resourcefulness are applied when working across time zones to maintain continuity and responsiveness.
Practical notes
Work is conducted across time zones, and flexibility is expected in this role. Typical interview steps
Sales hiring often includes a role play, a discovery call simulation, and a presentation. Candidates may be asked to pitch a product to a panel or handle a tough objection. Behavioral questions focus on past quota attainment and deal history. Energy and preparation matter. Interviewers often simulate the job in the interview itself, so be ready to run a short discovery call or demo. Practicing your own sales pitch out loud helps.
Good to know
Contracts define commitments and obligations for technology businesses and shape commercial relationships. Data privacy rules differ by region and influence how software services are delivered and managed. Legal teams interact with sales, product, and engineering to balance risk against business goals. SaaS models create specific compliance considerations around data handling, security, and access controls. International growth involves navigating multiple legal frameworks, tax regimes, and regulatory expectations.
Questions to ask
Good questions to ask the employer in the interview: what does success look like in the first six months, how is the team structured, what is the current biggest challenge, and how are decisions made. Asking about growth paths and the review process is also well received. Employers expect questions, and good ones show preparation.
Career growth
Sales careers can move from SDR or associate to account executive, senior AE, manager, and director roles. Some sellers move into partnerships, account management, or revenue operations. Compensation typically mixes a base with commission tied to results. High performers in sales typically move into larger accounts, team leadership, or sales operations. Quota history and references carry the most weight in promotion.
