Senior Copywriter - Fluent German
Job description
About the role
This opportunity invites a Senior Copywriter to join the N26 Creative Studio, based in Berlin or Barcelona. The role focuses on owning the German voice across all customer-facing communication. You will transform intricate financial concepts into messages that are clear, engaging, and easy to understand. The position requires equal strength in German and English, ensuring that messaging remains sharp and consistent across all markets and channels.
Key Facts
The position is located in Berlin, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring eight in-office days each month. The expected annual compensation ranges from 65,000 to 85,000 EUR. This role reports to the Creative Studio leadership and works directly with the German Localisation team. Your written output will shape how millions of customers perceive N26's brand in German-speaking markets.
What You Will Do
You will craft German copy for a wide range of platforms, including social media, paid advertising, customer relationship management, websites, and out-of-home placements. A core part of the role involves originating campaign ideas and writing headlines that feel native in German, rather than adapted from other languages. You will take English campaign materials and transcreate them into culturally resonant German narratives that maintain the original intent and impact. When necessary, you will also produce English copy to support broader initiatives. Collaboration with localisation specialists is central to maintaining linguistic precision and a unified brand tone. You will analyse customer language patterns to simplify complex financial topics without losing accuracy or depth. Meticulous proofreading and quality control will ensure that every piece of content meets the highest standards before publication. You will operate comfortably within a fast-paced environment, balancing rapid delivery with careful attention to craft.
Requirements
To be successful in this position, you must hold a recognised qualification in copywriting or a related field. You should bring a minimum of three years of professional experience, ideally within B2C digital or technology sectors. You are based in, or are prepared to relocate to, Berlin or Barcelona. Your written German must be at a C2 level, supported by an outstanding portfolio that showcases your ability to produce high-quality German copy. You must be a fluent English speaker and writer to collaborate effectively within a primarily English creative environment. You are capable of conceiving ideas, headlines, and full campaign concepts directly in German, rather than relying solely on translation. You possess the ability to explain complex subjects in a clear, concise, and customer-friendly manner. A deep understanding of tone of voice is essential, as you will write consistently within established brand frameworks. You have a keen eye for detail and eliminate errors through thorough review and quality checks. You manage feedback and tight deadlines without compromising the quality of your work.
Additional Considerations
Experience shaping ideas for multiple customer journeys and channels will be viewed favourably. Familiarity with regulatory and compliance considerations in the financial sector is a strong advantage. Your portfolio should demonstrate a consistent ability to write for both digital and physical touchpoints. You are comfortable iterating on concepts based on team and stakeholder input. This role requires a proactive mindset and a commitment to continuous learning within a dynamic fintech context.
Practical Notes
Please verify all application procedures and requirements on the official page before submitting your materials. Ensure your portfolio and documents reflect your strongest German-language work.
