About the role

Morrisonexpress is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual for the position of MAAWCV (Multi-Agency Air Waybill Cargo Verification) in our Chennai office. This full-time role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of air cargo documentation, which is essential for the smooth operation of our logistics and supply chain services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of air freight processes and will be responsible for verifying and validating cargo documentation to meet both internal and external standards.

What you'll do

• Conduct thorough reviews of air waybills and associated cargo documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Collaborate with various departments, including operations and customer service, to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely processing of shipments.
• Maintain accurate records of all documentation verification processes and outcomes, ensuring traceability and accountability.
• Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cargo verification processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Provide training and support to junior staff members on best practices for documentation verification and compliance standards.
• Monitor changes in regulations and industry standards related to air freight and ensure that the company's practices are updated accordingly.
• Generate reports on documentation verification metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement to enhance operational performance.
• Liaise with external stakeholders, including customs officials and airline representatives, to facilitate the smooth clearance of cargo and resolve any issues that may arise.
• Participate in audits and compliance checks, providing necessary documentation and support to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics team, suggesting enhancements to processes and systems based on your findings.
• Engage in regular communication with clients to address any inquiries or concerns related to cargo documentation and verification.
• Stay informed about industry developments and best practices in air freight logistics to ensure the company remains competitive and compliant.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in air freight operations or logistics, with a focus on documentation and compliance.
• Strong understanding of air cargo regulations and procedures, including customs requirements and industry standards.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues effectively.
• Proficient in using logistics software and tools for documentation management and verification processes.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools is a plus.

Nice to have

• Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CLTD) is advantageous.
• Experience working with international shipping and customs regulations.
• Knowledge of cargo insurance and risk management practices in logistics.

Skills & tools

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and logistics management software.
• Familiarity with cargo tracking systems and documentation platforms.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
