MongoDB is looking for an Associate to join the Pricing & Monetization team, responsible for shaping how we present our products and fostering sustainable revenue growth. This position involves collaborating with various departments to turn complex business challenges into actionable product strategies. Key facts
What you'll do
- Analyze historical customer usage data to identify patterns that inform new pricing tiers and packaging options.
- Construct detailed business cases to evaluate the financial impact of proposed changes to the product portfolio.
- Build and maintain complex financial models that simulate revenue scenarios under different pricing conditions.
- Synthesize findings from competitive pricing research to guide positioning against key rivals in the market.
- Translate technical constraints from engineering teams into clear inputs for pricing architecture and unit economics.
- Coordinate with the sales organization to align discounting strategies with profitability targets.
- Draft executive-facing presentations that communicate the rationale behind monetization decisions.
- Facilitate workshops with cross-functional partners to align on product performance metrics and billing rules.
- Evaluate the cost implications of new features to ensure they align with target margin goals.
- Monitor the execution of pricing decisions to identify deviations and recommend corrective actions.
- Partner with finance to reconcile actual revenue against forecasts and adjust models accordingly.
- Lead investigations into anomalies in monetization metrics to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Support the rollout of product changes by creating training materials for internal stakeholders.
- Challenge the status quo by proposing experiments to test alternative monetization approaches.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline; an MBA is preferred.
- Over 5 years of experience in strategy, business operations, or financial analysis, including 2-3 years in management consulting or a similar role within a technology firm.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize data for informed business decisions and effectively structure problems for analysis.
- Strong communication skills with the capability to distill strategic insights into actionable recommendations.
- Proficient in advanced Excel and Google Slides or PowerPoint.
- Comfortable using SQL for data retrieval and manipulation; familiarity with a scripting language like Python is advantageous.
- Ability to work efficiently and adapt analyses as needed.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and tackling complex issues independently.
- Interest in the convergence of product strategy, finance, and business operations.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future for this position.

- The base salary range for this position in the U.S. is $84,000 to $165,000 USD. Compensation is determined based on various factors, including skill set, experience, and location. Additional benefits for eligible employees may include equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks of fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, a 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, and health benefits.
